Carrie12345 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I’m pretty much convinced that dd’s high school graduation ceremony won’t happen. It’s scheduled for mid-May. Our co-op has really done a lovely job, if I do say so myself, of creating a nice event for our graduates these past couple of years. My friends and I had created the whole thing with our own kids in mind, so it’s pretty darn devastating. With just a few graduates each year, it’s a very tailored event so each one gets time to really shine. I already had a rough outline of dd’s slide show taking shape in my head, but I’m thinking we can take some extra time now to create an extended version to put online for our friends and family to see on graduation day. Maybe get some people to send in video clips to add. It’ll be harder to make it a whole surprise for dd since she can’t go anywhere! But we can try. Quote
freesia Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 That sounds lovely. I think getting creative is the best way to teach resilience. if I were your daughter, I would rather know the plan and maybe be part of it. But I don’t like surprises—she may be different.:-) 3 Quote
Guest Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Two members of my homeschool co-op were just talking about something similar for Talent Night, which we do every May. This also includes a presentation of the seniors graduating. They were talking about putting together an on-line presentation. If I had a senior this year I would probably be working on this! 1 Quote
fairfarmhand Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 My dds prom is somewhat up in the air. I’ve promised her we’ll have a formal weenie roast in our backyard when this is all over if prom is cancelled. They can wear flip flops and dance on the driveway. Quote
