Murphy101 Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I would like to find a simple bullet point list of current covid measures each state is taking that is updated daily with additional new measures added or extended. Because apparently some people can't be bothered to watch the damn news or read. I have had FOUR people today act like I was nuts to point out simple things like we can't gather more than 10 and that several states are shortly or already on lock down/might as well be Marshall law. But also I don't know about anyone else, but I can't keep up with all the press briefings without also becoming really anxious. And life is too short to spend it that way. 1 Quote

I guess you heard Tulsa just shut down all restaurants except for drive through. Quote
Guest Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 What I find annoying is that local, state, and National all seem to do their public statements at the same time. It’s impossible to watch them all, and they end up contradicting each other or having to make changes on the fly. Like, make a schedule, folks! 1 Quote

There’s surely GOT to be someone sitting at a computer and noting all this that could make a quick Spread sheet type form of: Today in blank state these measures are currently in effect these measures were additionally instituted they report these numbers (hospital beds filled/triage tent capacity to filled ratio/deaths Quote
Scarlett Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I think what would help is if it was a federal mandate. Quote
Robin M Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 (edited) It would be nice. I’m only paying attention and following what our county government is saying which contains alot of should’s and not must do. Globally, it’s just too much because each state and counties in each state are doing what they think is needed depending on their risk factors. California Governor fortunately said no need to martial law as long as folks are being reasonably compliant and following guidelines. Edited March 18, 2020 by Robin M 1 Quote

Martial Law is when the military is in charge instead of civilian leaders. Even if your governor has the national guard assist with security or assistance this doesn't mean the military is in charge. Shelter in place usually means find a safe place to stay until you are given the all-clear to move about freely. It's kind of on the honor system. I'm guessing lock-down would mean that shelter in place is somehow enforced. I don't know everything either and I suspect some concepts could be redefined during this particular crisis since we don't really have a unified game plan for any of this. Quote

I despise predictive autocorrect. I actually knew that bc I *usually* think Marshall is the famous judge not the infamous military. Okay. I see your point and agree about who is in control being the deciding factor difference among them. Can you see my view that to some people, there’s not much difference bc the honor system is being supported by the threat of military might if people don’t adhere to honor? I’m not bothered by this by the way and did not intend it in a derogatory manner. I mean I am in that Covid sucks and I hope my fellow countrymen won’t be turdy, but if they are going to not have honor, I would agree we need that stick for that situation should it arise. Quote

People aren't really built to have their freedom of movement curtailed even temporarily. It's uncomfortable under the best of circumstances. I took a walk with a friend today (we kept distance between us) and I felt like I was breaking out of jail. Quote
