ktgrok Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) My mom called, she is taking my Dad to the hospital for what she thinks might be a kidney stone. I'm hoping that is what it is, but also terrified of her in the hospital with everything going on. She has COPD and has had part of a lung removed and at high risk for COVID 19. Prayers of protection for her and my dad (who has type 2 diabetes on top of everything else) and for pain relief for him...if he's going it must be bad.And he is an ultrarapid metabolizer like me, so pain meds don't work well/last long for him. He had multiple kidney stones when I was a kid, but none in many years. Hoping it is just that and not something more serious. And they have a puppy, she needs someone to come watch it and I volunteered my 20 yr old but he's asleep and not waking up. UGH. (they are over an hour away) Edited - Son is now awake and getting ready to drive over there to stay with the puppy (she's only 9 weeks old). Update - I heard nothing all night, kept checking my phone. My sister kept messaging me, I was checking with her, nothing. Didn't want to call mom in case she was sleeping, but man. Finally when she didn't return my texts I called my son this morning. He was on his way home - my parents got home around 2am, not that long after I last spoke to my mom! I guess she figured going home wasn't a change worth bothering us with, lol. Ugh! So I'm SO glad that he is okay, but now I get to worry for two weeks that they picked up this stupid virus, or any other one, in the ER. Edited March 16, 2020 by Ktgrok 5 12 Quote
TravelingChris Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Praying for both of your parents, and you and your family too. Safe travels and safety in general for your son also. Quote
ktgrok Posted March 16, 2020 Author Posted March 16, 2020 Mom texted, Dad is on morphine which is helping his pain and is back getting a CT scan. Mom is a nurse, well, was a nurse, and is an excellent advocate to have when in the hospital. When I had surgery she went with me, and was amazing, and she's done that for my sister as well. So if there was no pandemic I'd be glad she was there. But there is, sigh. At least she is excellent about hygeine and a germphobe in general. She will be as cautious as she can be. She sounded better tension wise now that Dad is on pain killers - he's a very tough, strong man and I know it is disconcerting for her to have him like that. She will let me know if the CT scan shows anything important (praying specifically it is a nice boring kidney stone and not a tumor or aneurysm). I told her to not touch anything and to hold her breath until she gets home, and got an LOL, so that is good. I'll update you all when I know more. 8 Quote
