Selkie Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Good morning! Ds21 and I got up at 5:00 and went grocery shopping at Walmart as soon as it opened. It was great - hardly anyone was there. If I could swing it with my horse chores, I'd go that early all the time. Lots of bare shelves, but we are thankfully already pretty well stocked on the essentials. The only things I couldn't get were frozen blueberries, gnocchi, and tofu. Came home, fed the horses, fed the dogs and cats, put away the groceries, cleaned the kitchen, did a round with the disinfecting wipes, started laundry, ate a late breakfast/early lunch, and am now relaxing for a bit and catching up on the news. Just noticed that it is snowing now, too!❄️ groom horses puppy training more laundry read & relax maybe take a nap, since I only got a few hours sleep last night (but naps always make me feel gross, so probably not) dinner: snacky stuff watch a couple funny shows with the kids tonight - Jim Gaffigan & John Mulaney 8 Quote
readinmom Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Morning, all! What a week it has been! My school district was very prepared for all of this, but it was still stressful. We are closed until April 6. Dh and I got up early to go to grocery store but lines were around the parking lot, decided to go to Target instead. Stood in line for a half hour before they opened. Manager and security were very nice, gave everyone updates to what was in stock. Got in, got our stuff, check out was smooth. Don't plan on going out for something like that again. Dh was at Costco picking up stuff for my mom yesterday, fights broke out. A man tried steal a woman's grocery cart as she left the store. Grateful that there was a heavy police presence, took care of the situation. library to drop off books pick up reference materials work on grad school applications, order transcripts laundry, vacuum bedroom make sure dd creates a calendar for her assignments/due dates bbq steak for dinner, rolls, roasted veggies read, relax, Netflix Have a great day! 5 Quote
TheReader Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Yikes on the fights at the grocery stores! I have not ventured out since Weds when they announced the Rodeo closures here. I am dreading it. DH is home home home home home. Working from home for the foreseeable future, have I said? He asked me what I need to do for my classes; my plan, and he & I have discussed this all week, is that I would read aloud the book I normally read aloud from and video myself doing so. Show the pages/pictures, etc. Done. Easy. Today DH says that's a bad plan and he thinks transcribing it all into Power Point is better/easier/more what the parents will want since they are paying for it. He is stressing me out to no end. He says "let us help you" -- he is making it so much harder than it needs to be. Now, granted, there's no way for me to upload a video to the homework website we use, unless I also hassle with putting it on YouTube first. Bah. A video will be too large of a file to email. Fine. But honestly I wish he'd just hush and let me do this rather than have me sort it out for them to all "help" me do. Or, help me find a way to make the video work (because, really, I think the parents would be fine with that, the kids would enjoy watching/listening to me read much more than mom or dad clicking through a power point slideshow (even if I do audio of the text, which he is going to help me do). So, my Saturday just got much more complicated and hopefully I don't strangle DH and he doesn't strangle me. Next week I will do one/day for the week so I'm ready to go at the weekend, and honestly if DH had suggested this any of the days prior when we'd discussed me video recording myself, I could have done that this time, too. Rant over, must keep working. 5 Quote

ScoutTN Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 (edited) Changed up my plans for today a bit, since I know that I will have a much slower schedule and nowhere to go the next week or so. Skipping the work to refill bookcases etc. Making pie instead! Got apples and vanilla ice cream, along with my regular weekly load of fruit and veggies at the grocery. The freakout over TP, kleenex, paper towels, bottled water etc. has extended to many other areas of my regular stores. The meat cases are almost empty. Few eggs. Dairy and OJ have been hit, but not empty. Cheetos, chips, cookie aisles are decimated. Junk cereal is mostly gone. PB, frozen pizza and Lunchables are low. So is beer. Produce is fine, ironically Next up:Stuff the peppers and bake themMake pie crustPeel apples - I have one of those peeler, slicer gizmos that makes it quick work. Bake pie Rest and read a bit. SKL Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Howdy, happy Saturday! It is so surreal here, I hardly know what day it is. I slept in way late again. Decided not to rush around forcing my kids and self to go to TKD. Spent the majority of my waking hours on here, reading up on the coronavirus. Also blabbed with my sister on the phone for a long time. To do: Make the kids come with me outdoors for some fresh air and exercise. Buy a new microwave. Want to eat at a restaurant to support local businesses. Whatever client work I can focus on. My daily exercise routine, some reading, everyday housekeeping. Whatever else gets done. 7 Quote
TravelingChris Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Got up at 5:15 but got enough sleep since I fell asleep before 10pm Did Coffee meds made pancakes for breakfast Vacuumed bathrooms and hall Went on hike Snack lunch To be done and doing Buy a few plants and give some to dd2 who is in quarantine since no testing was available Drop off stuff at dd and ds house (dh is driving his truck and I am passenger. I got the very last bag of broccoli.🙂 4 Quote
TheReader Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Okay, I and all the family made Power Point things for my stuff. Now I get the fun job of going over them, fixing what I don't like, doing voice recording, and whatever else. Sitting outside with DH while he plants my lemon tree, first, and trying to be grateful to them for helping instead of annoyed at the extra work of them "helping." :sigh: No idea for dinner. We had frozen pizzas for lunch. 6 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted March 14, 2020 Author Posted March 14, 2020 Went to the grocery store. Went to the pharmacy. Got home and my neighbor texted asking for a walk with Juliet and me. Kept my mask on for the walk. This has been my first "social" face to face interaction with anyone other than my family (or a cashier) in over a week. Got home and crashed. So tired. Just ordered custom made gluten free pizzas from the pizza food truck. Doing my part for small local business. 😉 3 Quote
readinmom Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 I was pleasantly surprised to find the library open. I called to double check before going there. Pretty sure they will be closed starting Monday. Picked up three "new" novels, didn't want to spend extra time looking. Interesting note, though, that there were families filling bags with books from the children's section. Stocking up! Dh and I went out to an early dinner, came home, napped, watched one segment of a documentary America in Color, WPA segment. We'd never seen it before, really liked it. Dh and dd will watch something on Disney channel and I'll mess around on the laptop. Have a great evening... 5 Quote
ScoutTN Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Pie was ok. Not the best I've made. Too much cinnamon and the juices didn't get thick. But I'm sure it will still disappear quickly! Kids and Dh are watching the movie Radio. I am going to read. 4 Quote
SKL Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Well, I did drag the kids out to the park today. I walked around while they played around. Then we bought the microwave and finally did a grocery stop. We listened some more to the audiobook "Talking Back to OCD," which is very boring, but needs to be done. 😛 I did most of my "exercise routine" and will finish the rest before I sleep. The kids have been super lazy for the past 2 days. I need to get up the gumption to force them to be productive starting tomorrow. As for me - I was pretty unproductive myself today .... 3 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted March 15, 2020 Author Posted March 15, 2020 Paid bills. Most online. One in person and one I tried to do in person but missed their open hours. I would do all online but have discovered through experience that the bank is not always reliable. 1 Quote
