MEmama Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 (edited) Has this been asked yet? Has anyone heard what the plan is for all juniors taking the SATs in April if schools are closed? Edited March 13, 2020 by MEmama Quote
sassenach Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 I would just watch the College Board page carefully. I'm holding my breath hoping ds can squeak his in tomorrow. 3 Quote
Hadley Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 So far, there is no plan. My son was supposed to take it tomorrow, and our schools closed today. I sat on hold with the College Board and got a useless message that gave me no information at all about a possible plan B. We tried to get him registered in the county next door, but they wouldn’t let us. So very frustrating. Their other dates conflict with AP exam week and/or SAT II subject test exam dates. It’s a mess. 1 Quote
PeachyDoodle Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 The page with the listings of cancellations for tomorrow's SAT indicates that make-up dates will be scheduled. I would assume the same would be true in April. 3 Quote
freesia Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 The high school where dd is supposed to take it listed the SAT as cancelled for tomorrow. The college board does not. I guess we'll assume it's cancelled. 1 Quote
sassenach Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 No sooner did I post above and it got canceled. I scooped up a June 6th seat. They're rescheduling but there's no guarantee that it will work for our schedule so I would rather just reschedule when I know he can take it. 1 Quote
Farrar Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 I've been hearing that for the cancellations tomorrow, that the CB page for them is not entirely up to date. Folks have been saying check the CB, then call the school, then contact the CB if the info doesn't match. Sigh. This is going to be a massive (word removed for forum niceties). Even if they can hold AP exams (and I wouldn't count on it) then AP students will have missed significant instruction. It's going to be a mess. 1 Quote

The APS aren’t until May, but you’re right, a lot of instruction time will be lost. I hadn’t even thought that far ahead yet. DS is taking 4 APS this year so exam time will be stressful enough. There just isn’t enough time to make up 2-3 weeks of no classes. 😞 1 Quote

The ones on CollegeBoard webpage is for the Saturday general public testing. 1 Quote

I’m not sure if all states do this? Quote

This is the page for schools. https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/k12-educators/sat-school-day/timeline My gut feel says if schools are still closed on April 28th, the juniors would likely be taking during the May or June Saturday test dates. 1 Quote

That might be why tomorrow’s SAT is being cancelled or rescheduled. AP exams are done usually in classrooms and I am mentally prepared for the May usual exams to be done at the late test dates, and the late test dates exams to be done in summer. link is the AP late test dates https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/exam-dates-and-fees/late-testing-dates 1 Quote

Our testing center isn't showing as cancelled, and of course it's too late to call the school now. Guess we'll just show up in the morning and see. Schools around here are still operating so hopefully the test is still on. Fortunately I have a freshman so it isn't the end of the world, but we can't register her for DE classes until we get these scores. 3 Quote

This is our situation too, except schools are closed for 2 weeks plus spring break, starting Monday. So, I guess we go in the morning and see if they're giving the test or not. We're not listed as canceled on the College Board site. So who knows. 1 Quote
Another Lynn Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 Actually, I just thought to check the website for the highschool where the test is supposed to be held, and it plainly says it is canceled. So, that might be a good way to check for those wondering about tomorrow. 2 Quote

Of course, all the athletic events are still up too, and those were suspended yesterday by the state athletic association so... 1 Quote

Well, since your schools are still operating maybe your test is still really on. Good luck tomorrow! 1 Quote
