Bootsie Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 I am trying to come up with at least 2 weeks of remote learning for my university class--may be longer. In a quick survey of my students, of the ones I have heard from, only 20% have their books, calculator, and other course materials with them. In addition 20% say that they do not have computer/reliable internet and will be using a cell phone with limited data. I want to maintain academic integrity without unduly burdening students. Any ideas that your students have of what might be engaging is helpful. Quote
klmama Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 (edited) Are you looking for prepared subject matter or for an online source to present your own? Edited March 14, 2020 by klmama Quote
Bootsie Posted March 14, 2020 Author Posted March 14, 2020 I am thinking more along the lines of the structure, rather than sources of content, of the remote learning. Readings or videos? Online Quizzes? Discussion boards? Papers? Frequent deadlines to keep them on task? Bigger chunks of material with fewer deadlines? Online office hours? Quote
lmrich Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Probably not what you are looking for... Super organized and clear directions. Include a rubric of how it will be graded. Make everything due the same time and the same day each week. Answer emails. If a student does poorly on an assignment provide specific feedback on how he can improve. Online ungraded quizzes are really nice or quizzes that a student can take again and again to assess his knowledge. Discussion boards with the professor making comments - real comments that help guide the discussion. Maybe a checklist of what is due each week. I am trying to figure out how to do the same for middle school - good luck! Quote
