Selkie Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Scout, I saw that there were tornadoes in the Nashville area last night and thought of you right away. I hope all is well with you and your family. 3 1 Quote
TheReader Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Good morning, all. Thank you for all the kind words about my grandpa; I appreciate it so much. So, today's things.... ....take DS22 to therapy ....come home, do science homework with DS15 ....nap? sew? something?? ...put something in the crock pot for dinner for the kids ...make sure everyone eats lunch at some point ...pick up DS22 from therapy, drop him off at home ....take DS15 to fencing (take a book? something...?) ....take DS15 home from fencing, wait on DH ....DH gets home early, leave to go visit my grandma; this is going to be so hard. We should hear the date for the funeral today, I hope (they are trying to coordinate with everyone and it's, of course, complicated....) ....come home, sleep Prayer request for today would be that the visit tonight goes well. My dad & sister are feuding, massively, so the visit tonight is coordinated between me and her, so my dad doesn't have to be with her there alone. They both have short fuses and hot tempers so while theoretically they'll both be on good behavior under the circumstances....reality could be anyone's guess. Probably I should check on laundry status at some point as well. 4 2 Quote

My phone weather alarm didn't even go off when the t-storms went over. Scary! So much damage! And nine people died. 😢 1 3 Quote

Selkie Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Good morning! Scout, glad you're okay! The pictures of the damage are awful! Reader, I hope there aren't any fireworks between your dad and sister. I'm sure that would be so stressful on the rest of the family, at an already stressful time. Anyone else worrying a little bit about the coronavirus? Dh is supposed to go to a trade-show type thing tomorrow for work and I really wish it would just get canceled.🙁 office work - email & other online things dust & vacuum main floor order horse supplements extra manure to scoop today - two days' worth, since I didn't get it done yesterday cut up orange slices and do something with the humungous bunch of Swiss chard in my fridge - it keeps trying to escape every time I open the door dd has a violin lesson dinner: orange veggie stir fry 5 Quote

SKL Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Howdy, happy Tuesday! I was supposed to send out some reports in the wee hours, but I couldn't stay awake, so they went out this morning. Done: Up somewhat early to finish and send client reports. Kid2 up to make math corrections. Both kids off to the school bus ... Kid1 late because she just can't get it together, ugh! Hopefully OCD therapy will help if we ever get it started. Cleaned the kitchen. Coffee 1. Part of my exercise routine. Texted church youth leader re rummage sale donation. Caught up on emails, calendar, news, social media, and electronic school stuff. To do: Need to send 1 client report ASAP. Coffees 2 and 3 and ??? A little reading. More exercise and cleaning. Lots more client work. Kid1's Zoo Crew application has to be delivered before 4pm today. I will hand carry it. Would like to drop off some donations also - pet shelter, general secondhand bins. Pizza night! Find out how my mom can get some new kaftans. Kid2 has horse riding - driver will drive. Kid1 - document zoology badge work. Both kids - instrument practice, homework, cleaning their bedrooms. Whatever else gets done. 6 Quote

mom31257 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Reader, I'm so sorry about your grandpa! I understand the loss. My mother's parents were almost an extension of our family because my mom was an only child and we were the only grandchildren. Losing them was so difficult! I pray things will settle down with your dad and sister and that you will all be comforted in this time! Praying for those affected by the storms, too. 6 Quote

I currently have a respiratory virus that has settled in my chest. It is on my mind. But this time of year is always a cautious one for me. I control what variables I can but am not going to panic. Too many variables are totally out of our control. (Christian content note: ignore if it isn’t your thing. Nothing is out of God’s control.). We do good flu season hygiene (recommended), mask and limit contact while sick. If we were tested or had known exposure we would do whatever we’re told to do. 7 Quote

Thank you, yes, that's an accurate/fair comparison. My grandparents own an art gallery, and I worked there after school for 3 yrs of high school (and on Saturdays), on as many weekends during college as I could, and on an "as needed" basis after that until we moved to Brazil. I spent A LOT of time with my grandparents, as a result. It still feels surreal. 5 Quote
TheReader Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Dropped off DS22 Called a friend for an impromptu "can I come over please" visit, did that Home, looked up a recipe to do with the chicken for the crock pot Decided I do NOT have it in me to pick up, drop off, go to fencing, come home, hit the road....I need a nap SO.....leaving to pick up DS22, will come home, set up the crock pot, and NAP before going to visit this evening. 6 Quote
ScoutTN Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 (edited) Bible study this morning was prayer for those affected by the tornado. Too heavy of a day here for lesson-as-usual. Spent most of the afternoon doing electronic chores. Going to rest for a bit before the afternoon drive time gets here. Zero energy today for some unexplained reason. It is 65 and sunny, so I have the windows open! I am SO ready for spring. Edited March 3, 2020 by ScoutTN 6 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 Went out and bought my sixth or seventh thermometer. I can't find ANY of the others in this house and I have looked in all the spots that even remotely make sense. No fever which is good. I just feel tired and congested and "punky". Nothing major. But I am taking it easy. I didn't want to go out at all but I figured ten minutes to dash down to the pharmacy and back was preferable to not taking my temperature and Amazon said that I wouldn't get my thermometer until Saturday if I ordered through them. human care done pet care done medical care done 6 Quote
SKL Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Lived through a couple conference calls and stressful email exchanges. I am happy to say I turned in my kid's Zoo Crew application. It sounds like a small thing, but it's been on my mind for so long. I was afraid we would miss the deadline for some reason or other. Now I can "let it go." The first step in selection is a random lottery. No idea what the chances are. I have a headache and my teeth hurt (new Invisalign insert). Maybe I should take a tylenol so I can work some more .... 7 Quote
mom31257 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 SKL, I hope you feel better soon! Jean, I hope you get over the respiratory virus quickly! TheReader Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Home from the visit, and I feel a lot better. My grandma seems good; maybe even more at peace than when he was in the hospital this weekend. They both were/are very strong Christians, so that is helping her. My dad & sister talked to each other like normal, so hopefully that lasts and wasn't just for show for tonight. She definitely still seemed upset about everything but she hid it well during. I really hope they are able to reconcile, but.....LOTS of history there and so who knows. Grandma sent all of us home with a half gallon of Rocky Road ice cream (his favorite) -- he was eating so much ice cream that they had a dorm freezer in one room for just ice cream, and she said the store would sometimes not have his flavor, so every time they went, he'd buy all they had. So, we are home, we've all had a mug of rocky road ice cream, and chatted, and now are vegging out. I did get science homework done with DS15, did not touch laundry but the necessaries are all clean (if not put away yet). Hanging out with DH and then heading to bed. 2 Quote
