Ginevra Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Anyone? With any product other than a doctor’s internal or external prescription? If I take immaculate care of my feet daily, I can see improvement, but overall, years have gone by and more of my toes and foot skin is affected. I also now have a little blister/boil on one toe at the nail bed and I don’t think that can be good. Quote

In fact I would let them remove my toe nail because I am pretty sure that is one way to get rid of it. 1 1 Quote

Joker Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) The only thing that has ever worked for dh is actual pills prescribed by a doctor. I can't remember the name, but no self care or topical ointments ever worked for him. After taking the pills once, he's never again had issues. Edited March 2, 2020 by Joker 2 Quote
Katy Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 With a boil too, I would worry something else is going on. Plus, only a doctor can tell you if it's fungus or psoriasis. Go to a doctor. I've known a few people (nurses) who said they cured their nail fungus with nightly foot soaks in 50% vinegar. But they weren't dealing with a boil. 2 Quote
wintermom Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 My dh cured his toenail fungus with prescription topical brush on ointment. I tried the same ointment for 6 months my toenails grow so slow that there was only partial success. I'll do the oral prescription next and hope for success. 1 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) I made dh do a tea tree oil foot soak every day. as long as he was doing it, it worked. it had spread to all the nails on one foot. pretty sure the small nails are cleared up even before the nails had grown out, I was seeing improvement in the color. mathnerd Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Cut off as much of the nail as you can, soak every day in warm water with epsom salt and 10 drops of tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil. Also take a calcium supplement to accelerate nail growth. I did this before bedtime for 5 months to see improvements. I also dipped a q-tip in tea tree oil and painted my toenails with it in the am though it is an overkill (It is recommended to dilute tea tree oil but I had no bad effects from full strength use). No more nail polish for me as it seems to bring back the fungus. 1 Quote
Tanaqui Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I know somebody who had to wash all over with hibiclens for some reason and, incidentally, that also cured their toenail fungus. 2 Quote
TracyP Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I did with Vicks. Sounds crazy but it worked. It took 2-3 weeks to start to see improvement and several months to be completely healed. My mom was on a prescription for 6 mos with very little improvement, so I figured I had nothing to lose. I rubbed it all over and under nails twice a day. I'm not sure I would use Vicks on the blister... 1 Quote
Nicholas_mom Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I had a blister before on a toenail before. I went to the foot doctor and I had an ingrown toenail. It was easily fixable. The toenail fungus I have no clue. But I am listening for dh sake. Maybe I will have him try Vicks......... 2 Quote
EmseB Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 My dh did by taking the pills. Terbinifine? I think. But if it's affecting your skin you might need a cream also. A few years ago I had athletes foot so bad on the top of my foot that responded to nothing. I finally saw a dermatologist who gave me an antifungal cream that I ended up using with some mystery Chinese medicine called Yiganjering in a little gold tube I got off of Amazon. After a year of being embarrassed to wear sandals it went away in about two months with those two things. 1 Quote
May Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I’d see a podiatrist or my primary care doctor and go from there. 1 Quote
Harriet Vane Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 We are seeing incredible improvement with diluted apple cider vinegar soaking each night. Not healed yet but hopeful. 1 Quote

It’s small and watery-looking like a blister, but it is at the nail bed/cuticle of my next-to-big toe. Could that be staph? I know nothing about it other than I had a couple like it on my pinky toe just before I got the first nail fungus. I thought it was poison ivy from wearing flip-flops out to my chicken coop. Quote
sweet2ndchance Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 I've tried Vicks, every type of vinegar, bleach, removing the nails, tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, oregano oil, fungal nail polish (which every one of them say they are for treating fungal nails but that they can't cure fungal nails....) antifungal creams and soaks... I'm glad to hear that someone has had success with Hibiclens. Dh had surgery last October and I noticed that the bottle said it was effective as an antifungal. I figured the worst it could do is not work so I started washing my feet with it..... It does seem to be helping as I am seeing some areas that seem to be growing back healthy nail. I keep trimming the nails back as far as I can and then in the shower after the remaining nail is soft and wet, I wash them with the Hibiclens and let it sit on there for few minutes before rinsing. Then I put antifungal cream on them before I put shoe and socks on. I'm hoping I'm not just imagining things because it is only a quarter inch or so of clean growth so far. But fingers crossed because this is the first thing that has ever shown any improvement for me. 1 Quote
HazelAnne Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 A doctor recommended using “Elon Dual Defense Anti-Fungal Formula” for a toenail fungus that was still mild. Seems to be working/helping- but haven’t finished the course of treatment yet. I don’t know about using it with a blister/boil though. Sounds like something maybe a doctor should look at... 1 Quote
Pen Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 See doctor. I know people who’ve healed them with things like grapefruit seed extract. But I also know someone who ignored it as not a big deal and she had it become systemic infection. Lost all hair. Had it spread to hands. See doctor, IMO 1 1 Quote

It looks very much like the photo here of the toe with two cysts on it, though I only have one. It looks almost exactly like the left one in the photo of two on the toe. That’s exactly where mine is located and it curves into the cuticle exactly like that. Thank you. Quote
Jelloboys Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I completely got rid of a toenail fungus by using Vicks Vapor Rub and essential oils. I used a carrier oil, (I think it was almond) added a couple drops each of clove and oregano oil and dabbed that all over with a Q-Tip, then completely covered it with the Vicks and put a band aid over it. I did it usually once a day, but sometimes twice. Once in the morning, then again at bedtime. It took about 6-9 months because the nail had to completely grow out. It’s been 2 years now and I have a completely healthy nail without ever taking a single dose of Terbinafine, which is extremely hard on your liver. The natural route works 100%, you just have to be diligent, keep the area clean and put the mixture of oils and Vicks on faithfully every day. Quote
