LadyBelle
My daughter is severely struggling with her grammar lessons. Every worksheet we’ve done in these chapters she’s scored less than 40% correct. Any other resources: books, videos, worksheets? She’s doing English Workshop second course by Holt 2nd Grammar Topics.pdf Edited February 29, 2020 by LadyBelle Upload Pages
EKS
Are you working with her? If not, that's where I'd start. Make her grammar lessons a conversation. A great resource to inspire conversation about grammar (and phrases) is MCT. But you could do the same thing with any resource.

Im actually struggling with this myself. I learned these topics a very long time ago in my Spanish-Speaking country. But in the US public schools, I never learned about it, so Im having a hard time and its probably why she's struggling even more. I tried looking up MCT and didn't find anything. I also took photos of the pages we're doing. Grammar Topics.pdf
cintinative
The first six weeks of Grammar for the Well Trained Mind are available online here for free: http://downloads.peacehillpress.com.s3.amazonaws.com/pdfs/gftwtm/Grammar_for_the_Well-Trained_Mind_6-Week_Sample.pdf I would go through these: Week 3: Introduction to the Sentence . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 19 LESSON 9: The Sentence, Parts of Speech and Parts of Sentences, Subjects and Predicates. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 19 LESSON 10: Subjects and Predicates, Diagramming Subjects and Predicates, Sentence Capitalization and Punctuation, Sentence Fragments. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 21 LESSON 11: Types of Sentences. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 23 LESSON 12: Subjects and Predicates, Helping Verbs, Simple and Complete Subjects and Predicates. I think what helped me discern between adverbial and adjectival clauses was the questions that they answer. Adverbs answer the questions how, when, where, or to what extent. Adjectives answer the questions Which one? What kind? How many? and Whose? Once you identify the clause, then you ask yourself what question is it answering. Other resources: https://www.english-grammar-revolution.com/clauses.html There are some free Glencoe workbooks here but I don't think there are answer keys: http://www.glencoe.com/sites/alabama/teacher/languageart/assets/workbooks.html Edited February 29, 2020 by cintinative

PeterPan
What's her age and background? Had she ever done anything with phrases/clauses before? Googlefu is saying that text is an 8th gr text. I remember Shurley (what I used with my dd) went from NOTHING on phrases/clauses to BOOM all in one level. It was too big a jump. You may need to back up, go hands-on, make sure she gets the idea. something like https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Grammar-Manipulations-hands-on-sentence-combining-3337294 or https://www.rootedinlanguage.com/instructional-materials/big-bug-grammar-3-phrases
