RootAnn Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I want to reline some kitchen shelves with shelf liner. It makes it easier to clean the area & my current stuff is all beat up (20+ yrs old). I'm used to the adhesive type but found grippy non-adhesive stuff (Duck Easy Liner for example), too. I can see that would easier to install, but does it shift around/move if you slide things in & out often? Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 No. Not well, long term, IME. 1 Quote
Carrie12345 Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 Duck might be what we have. I just ordered whatever off of Amazon, lol. I’ve had mine for at least 3 years. No movement issues. 2 1 Quote
Scarlett Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 It moves a bit but worth it to be able to move it out and clean when necessary. 3 1 Quote
Pawz4me Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I'd say it moves minimally. It really depends on what you're sliding and what else, if anything, is on it holding it down. IMO the amount it slides or moves is nowhere near enough to be irritating. 1 Quote
Storygirl Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I hate hate hate mine!! I spent hours lining the cabinets of my kitchen when we moved less than two years ago. And that stuff crumples and moves and I hate it. The kind I used was Duck brand Smooth Top EasyLiner (same as what you linked). 1 Quote
bibliophile Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Duck Easy Liner is terrible! And expensive! I spent $200 on shelf liner a few months ago and now it is all bunched up in the drawers. It's okay under plates and bowls and so-so under drinking glasses. You definitely cannot slide things on it without it shifting. A similar product I used 10 years ago was wonderful, so I'm not sure why this was so disappointing. 1 1 Quote
Storygirl Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 My mom did have some non-stick liner in her cupboards, and it seemed to work fine for years, which is why I decided to try some, instead of the sticky backed kind. Hers was a kind of mesh, where you could actually see through in places. I don't even remember if I saw that kind in the stores when I was looking, but I was not sure that I wanted something that would let crumbs and dust drop through. I guess that would have been a better choice, though. If you find that meshy type, you could get a small amount and try it in one or two cupboards to see if you like it. Quote
sgo95 Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 I love using this: https://www.containerstore.com/s/clear-plast-o-mat-ribbed-shelf-liner/d?productId=10000688&q=shelf liner It's a thick kind of ribbed plastic liner. The frame of the cabinets helps to keep it in place. For some cabinets where that doesn't work, I put the non-adhesive foamy type of liner underneath to help it stay in place better. Quote
