Selkie Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Good morning! We got 6" of snow last night, too, and the temp is headed down to around -20. I'm watching my horses tear around out in the snowy pasture - it's the equine version of zoomies.🙂 office work - finish up bills, banking, filing, renew a vehicle registration make a post office run mop main floor? or maybe just the front hall - puppies dug a hole yesterday and tracked in mud clean upstairs bathrooms declutter in dining room put extra bedding in stalls for optimum coziness, since it will be a cold night produce box? not sure if Fedex will deliver today since the roads are bad read dinner: red curry pumpkin soup & salad 5 Quote

SKL Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Howdy, happy Thursday. Seems like a long week! I got little sleep last night because I was up doing summer camp stuff, and then had to wake the kids early to do homework corrections etc. It was close to being a snow day today, but they did have school, and because we had stuff to do together in the morning, I had to drive. Unfortunately, our local road crew doesn't clear the hills on the side roads until well after 8am, so again I got stuck spinning my wheels going up the hill. And so on ... let's just say the weather is a big part of why I got a late work start today. Done: Summer camp and school forms in the wee hours. Also laundry / packing gym bags. Slept about 1.5 hours, then another hour with lots of alarms. Helped the kids with homework corrections, did breakfast etc. Drove kids to school. Cleaned off the car. Drove to library 1. Cleaned the car some more. Drove to library 2. Cleaned the car some more. Drove home. Cleaned housemate's car and my car some more. Dragged the garbage cans back up from the road. Ate the kids' leftover breakfast, cleaned the breakfast mess. Processed a load of laundry. Caught up on emails, news, social media, calendar, and electronic school stuff. A little reading & exercise. Working on my 2nd cup of coffee. To do: Lots of client work. More laundry - one more load to wash, 2 to dry, 3 to process from the dryer / put away. Pay bills. Yoga and TKD form practice. Kids' music practice. Kids' homework, including trip to store for a "project." Try to work some AHG stuff into this project. Should really force the kids to do TKD with me today, but probably won't. Whatever else gets done. 6 Quote
TheReader Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Scheduled the language arts stuff, and have a good plan on how to fit everything in/manage all the subjects/keep on top of things. Pulled out some papers from the class he dropped --- so, DS14 has severe dyslexia, but I felt he was ready for a grade-level course, so had enrolled him at our homeschool enrichment place. The grammar used was a terrible fit for him, and the reading pace kept getting faster, making it hard for him to keep up. Throw in also that the teacher said she'd work with me/him on excusing assignments, etc., but in practice never did. Thus we dropped. So anyway --- today, went through his old binder to refill it with the new stuff. Pulled out one of his last graded assignments: a 3 paragraph creative myth. He got a 50/50 on creativity, a 45/50 on technique.......because he wrote 4 paragraphs, instead of three. 🤦♀️ I am so glad I took him out of that class. (and she took off points for it being late, despite that I thought we'd agreed on that ahead of time...). Ate lunch. Checked some stuff online for DH, texted him about it. Going to pick up DS22 and will do school with DS14 when we get back (assuming DS22 takes a nap again....). 5 Quote
MysteryJen Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Finished the present, emptied the dishwasher, and other daily chores, and got the stuff ready to mail. I am going to read for a while. 5 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 human care done pet care done medical care done including filling the pill boxes for the week did some texting for camp. Getting super frustrated with my board. It shouldn't be this hard to schedule a simple meeting. 5 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 Put dd's car on our insurance. Washed, dried and put away dishes, knives and pans. Wiped down counters, stove and microwave. 5 Quote

mom31257 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Ds has completed a full practice ACT test this week, and his scores are not impressive. He is slow, so that isn't helping. They are enough to get a small amount of money at the school he wants to go to, but I sure wish he could get more. He's going to start using an online practice program, so I'm really hoping it will help. If anyone knows how to prod a child on to read faster, think faster, I'm all ears! 5 Quote
TheReader Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Took a (longer than intended) nap. Loaded & started the dishwasher. History with DS, and then on to the other subjects. DH on his way to get DS19 from school, then home. Figured out what to make for dinner, and took the meat out to thaw (cheddar bratwursts, with baked beans & mac & cheese or a veg). 5 Quote
ScoutTN Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Made a quick dinner for dh. Ds had cereal and leftover mac n cheese. Texted ds' teacher about an assignment. Packed supper for me and dd. 5 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 Finished tabulating all of dd's grades for her senior year. Did some more back and forth with board members. Ugh. My chairman of the board is the worst at getting back to me!!!! 3/4 of the way done with dd's transcript but I need to take a break so that I can figure out dinner and buy ingredients and then cook 5 Quote
