I don’t think I posted over the weekend. Our cat, Minnie, who was hurt, died while we were gone. The kids said she seemed to be doing okay and kept spraying the wound as they were supposed to. She was staying laying down more that day but was getting up to eat and drink. They saw her up at least two hours prior.

She was ours almost 7 years, and she was a great cat. She was affectionate and never met a stranger. She will be missed!

@mom31257 I'm so sorry about your cat and that it happened when your kids were home without you. Our cat was almost 16 but also was with us for about 8 years (she was my mom's cat before that). It's so sad, but also we can be comforted that they are no longer in any pain and that they had lives filled with love.

Thank you! She was a stray we took in, so we don't know how old she was. I don't think the vet ever told her an estimated age, but she gave birth to 7 kittens that year. I don't think she was very young having that many.

Wow! 7 kittens!! My dad (in his 80's, so this was before modern thought on cat population control) says that his family had a cat that had over 100 kittens over her lifespan. She was a prolific breeder, and her kittens were adorable, so they never had trouble giving them away, even though they lived in a very small town. I think it's amazing to think about how many descendants that cat had.

Good morning!

Today we have....
....DH take DS22 to his therapy, on his way to a meeting
....I take DS14 to his science class, then take DS19 back to campus, then pick up DS14, then pick up DS22
...(I am not yet sure if, in any of that running around, I have time for any kind of small break for myself or not)

Once home from the running around, I need to....
....fold & put away 2 loads of waiting laundry
....check the boys' bathroom hamper for any clothes to be washed, wash them
....sew some more (never did any yesterday)
....oh, ha, feed people lunch
....remember to take out some of the pre-made frozen chili for dinner, as it's just DH, DS22, and me tonight
....make cornbread to go with the chili
....make some more iced tea (remember to stir this time) and lemonade
....toss the (by now old and probably gross) cucumber water; see if we have anything to infuse with, make some more if so
....do Barton and Math with DS14 while DS22 takes his nap
....DS14 to church, eat dinner, pick up DS14 (maybe go buy my printer in the between??)
....home, probably not much after church

Good morning!

Amy, I am so sorry about Minnie! What a sweet picture - I love the way she and your ds are looking at each other!

I got a long and blissful night of sleep (so thankful that my puppies are sleeping through the night now) and hope to get a lot done today.

  • office work (bills, banking, & clean off desk)
  • pay for three loads of hay
  • dust upstairs (has been on my list since Monday)
  • do cheek swabs of Aussies to send to Washington State lab
  • clean out fridge
  • refill soap bottles (saw a thing on the internet about using dish soap to make foaming hand soap, so I'm going to try it with my favorite Mrs. Meyers radish scent)
  • coffee date with dh this afternoon
  • dinner: ?? might make a pot of lentil soup this afternoon, or I might not make dinner at all because dh has a golf thing tonight
  • read, relax, maybe watch a movie with dh

Mom - sorry about your kitty.  I still miss mine, and it's been about 7 years.  I keep telling my husband that once we're moved in, I'm getting another one.  Maybe that's why moving in is taking longer than it should... 😏

  • Swimming & Reading
  • Failed at making Daikon Radish Chips... trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the daikon.  I may just shred it and try to make "hash browns"
  • Work...I'll be logged in.  Work is pretty quiet at the moment.
  • Unpack some new storage things (already put the papers and magazines inside them, moved my dish towels to new baskets in the kitchen).
  • Clean off my desk
  • Clean up the other things in the office area I want to eliminate
  • Move my swimming books back downstairs to my office
  • Unpack some more books, clear off a table
  • Laundry ... because I leave tomorrow.
  • Swimming & Coaching on deck.
  • BED

Amy, I am so sorry about your kitty. She looks so happy in that photo.

Freezing cold this morning and of course, everyone is out and about for practices. I will take dh in to work and then pick up ds3 from tennis. I have no idea what dd2 is doing- think she has late start- so maybe homework at Starbucks?

  • paper/coffee
  • dh to work
  • pick up ds3
  • drop off package at UPS
  • school with ds3
  • daily chores
  • sutff I didn't get done yesterday- because dh worked from home most of the day
  • check in with dd2 at some point this morning
  • get dinner prepped with ds3
  • ds3 to tennis
  • pick up dh/ds3
  • dinner- jerk chicken and rice

Have a great day!

Happy hump day y'all!

Still dangerously behind on my work - nothing new there....

Done:

  • My alarm did not sound because the battery died in the night.  Got up maybe 7:30?  (Supposed to be by 7am.)
  • Reviewed spelling, made corrections.  Reminded kids to take instruments, cheer clothes/shoes.
  • Kids left on time to just meet the bus, which was also about a minute or two late.  Good enough.
  • Took out the garbage, cleaned part of the garage.
  • Brought in and processed the mail.
  • Cleaned the kitchen, bathrooms, and some clutter.
  • Fed the bird.
  • Put away some of the laundry.
  • Coffee 1.
  • Caught up on emails, news, social media, calendar, and electronic school stuff.

To do:

  • Lots of client work.  Priorities:
    • 2 audit packages for client 1.
    • 2 quarterlies for client 2.
    • YTD for audit of client 3.
    • 1 more for client 1.
    • As many as I can finish for client 2 - there are over 20 audit packages due ASAP.
    • Audit confirms - various.
    • 3 audit packages for client 4.
    • 3 more for client 3.
    • 8 for client 5.
    • Whatever emergencies arise.
    • Whatever I'm forgetting.
  • Exercise.
  • Pay bills.
  • School forms.
  • A little reading.
  • More laundry.
  • Kid2 has horse riding.
  • Kid1 has math tutoring, cheer practice, and trumpet lesson.
  • Kids' homework, AHG work.  Kid2 should clean room if there's time.
  • Get ready for tomorrow morning.
  • Kids' showers.

Daikon radish slaw is good, too!

Figure out and cook supper.  Probably potato soup and cornbread.  Now to figure out what I will eat.

Do you eat dairy-free? I do, and those are the kinds of meals I have to eat something else.

We have another cat, Callie, one of Minnie's kittens we kept. I'll look for a picture to add from my phone.

This is Callie. Minnie had 7 kittens, and we gave 5 away. We kept this little girl and a boy cat we named Little Bit, who ended up the biggest of them all. He died while we were gone on another trip when he was only 2 years old. She is small, uneasy around strangers, but very affectionate with us.

human care done

pet care done

medical care done

I need all the trophies.  I spent all morning doing the camp business that I have successfully avoided for the last three months.  It involved typing things in legalese that I don't quite understand (ok - I do sort of understand it but it gives me the hives anyway. . . ).

Home from my running around. Whew. The rest of the days should not be this busy.

Folded all the laundry before I left; debating whether I need a nap or not. It's COLD and blah out, which always makes me really sleepy whether i"m tired or not. On top of still being tired from the last....however long....leaning towards yes but we shall see. I do have stuff I want/need to do, also, so....

Our weather is nuts. Yesterday, 80 degrees for the high.  Today, the "high" was 54, at 6 a.m., with temps now in the mid 40s and falling. Snow flurries a little north of me overnight tonight, and near freezing (just above freezing) for us here tomorrow. Friday, though? Back to 70+. Because, Texas. This is why we can never pack away "seasonal" clothes. Ha! Seasons.....

Okay, yes, having sat down and stopped moving, I can feel my eyelids growing heavy. As I nearly forgot (2 mins after telling the kids) that I needed to stop and gas up.....sleep seems a good and wise plan.

The stuff to do will still be there when I get up, and if I sleep now, I should actually still have enough time for it all, too.

Or pickles!

So I read this first and thought "pickle slaw???" (this was in reply to the "daikon radish slaw is good too!") and was SOOOO confused (and grossed out).

Then realized you meant "or pickled daikon" not Pickle slaw.  Makes so much more sense that way, LOL!

Update (see above) --

laundry is waiting to be put away; DH is home early and is napping, so I can't get in the room to do so
made lemonade, went to make tea, tea maker needs disinfecting, so washing it/soaking the parts/etc. and will make tea tonight or tomorrow (real tea, people....not Hive TeA.....)
napped myself, briefly
checked in with DS19 to see how he's doing; he sounds better and may yet agree to finish this semester :sigh:  (we did find a program he can switch to, if he still wants to, for next semester; would allow him to live at home and commute more easily, is geared towards the animation/media side of things that he wants, doesn't have calculus, IF that's what he still wants once he makes it through calculus)

Grabbing a snack and heading up to do the much-forgotten Barton and math with DS14, who will of course be delighted by that.....

Oh, also, emptied & reloaded dishwasher

Tidied living room/kitchen

Split pills for DS22 and organized the pill organizer that came in the mail today (yes, we'll have him take that over, but I wanted to test the pill splitter)

Okay, now going up with a snack to do Barton & Math with DS14. If I bribe him with food it ought not be too bad 😉

Lol...we drink so much tea in this house and whenever I refer to making tea or ordering tea, I wonder if everyone is thinking my list is a lot more exciting than it actually is.😉

I got some work out, but am still way behind.  Too distractable.  Still working.

Will have to take a break pretty soon to get some dinner for me and the kids.  Probably Chipotle.

Margaret, your definition of taking it easy is different than mine, LOL, but I'm glad you're starting to try to rest some. Good job!

DS and I did his Barton.....ummm, we've not picked it up in 2.5 years. Egads. (Somewhere along the way, he started reading on grade level, and it just....fell by the wayside....) Plus of that is, he blew through half a lesson in 30 mins. Down side of *that* is we've only got 3 lessons left in this book/level, which means....what? Six more sessions?? Eek. I wasn't planning to have to buy the next level that quickly. Gonna have to evaluate whether he *needs* to continue with Barton or not, or we're good sticking to other stuff.

Let's see....what else did I do....

....took DS to youth group, ate dinner, picked up DS from youth group, got all the laundry put away that was waiting.....didn't do math. Will add that to today's list.
