I was looking at the sale they have right now. The website says they are updating to a 3rd edition, but they don’t give a date. Anyone have the inside scoop?

I have been planning on using this for next year, and now I’m torn. My dd really likes Dr Wile and his writing/teaching style. I’m assuming that the new edition will be a different author. But she is (hopefully) joining a local homeschool class for biology and it’s too early to know what edition they will use, so I don’t necessarily want to buy it now.

Sometimes updates are frustrating. They did this with General Science the year we finished it - but I liked the previous edition and hoped to use it with my younger kids. Oh well.

I remember when Chemistry came out updated, it was riddled with errors! I wouldn’t want to use biology the first year it’s updated personally. I would encourage the co-op to go with the previous edition.

I called the company. They are hoping for a spring release (March/April?). New authors, new format. The two editions are incompatible.

So, now I have to decide. I agree, @MerryAtHope, that the first edition isn’t always the best. So I can buy a textbook that will not be supported in the future, or go with another curriculum.
It’s way too early to know what the local class teacher will choose - they don’t publish the class list until summer.

Our co-op is hoping to use Dr. Wile's book because a teacher offering to teach it has all her review materials from another time. We need to decide soon, though, because of getting the notebooks. They are only through Apologia.  Ds is doing Dr. Wile's  BIology at co-op this year, and he's really liked it.

I teach chemistry there and use Dr. Wile's newest book through Berean Builders. I love it!

Dr. Wile sells his books on this site, but the notebooks are by Apologia. I am assuming he can keep selling them, but I'm not positive.
