Great Story about one of the Nobel Prize Winners in Chemistry (It's his bday today)

It is good that he didn't let that teacher keep him from pursuing chemistry. Just as many of us have had inspiring teachers, I'm sure I'm not the only one who had a teacher who belittled students or simply made an interesting topic into something to be despised.

All 3 of my kids have gone into fields specific to the teachers they despised. Each child felt they didn't learn anything from those teachers, but for some reason it piqued their interest and they're now studying in those fields. Sometimes it's the teachers who seemingly don't teach well that gets the student's attention.

It could also be the teachers' insecurity about having students who understand the topic better than they do.
