All 5 children have been insane today. Fighting, attitude, tears, teasing, pestering, doing half a job, half answering me or completely ignoring me, you name it and they've probably done it. Nothing out of routine happened over the weekend so it isn't like I can pinpoint that none of them slept well because of xyz or they aren't collectively excited about something. But why does it all have to be on the same day??? I'm so exhausted from their issues right now and it isn't even 5 yet.

I just want to go to sleep! Vent over. No real advise needed just needed to complain

It’s January? That would have been my “reason”.

Sorry it was a bad day all around.

Normally that would make sense. But it has been gorgeous out and they've gotten so much sun and energy out over the weekend and today.

Thanks for the sympathy

That kind of stuff is so contagious. One bad attitude makes everyone irritable around here. I'm sorry you're having a rough day.

Yup

I almost prefer all in one day to each taking their own day. Rather one bad day with all the kids than many bad days with one kid at a time.

sometimes i prefer it but today it is a new kind of crazy going on.  They are all feeding off of each others' negativity and now I am.

But it is 8;30, they're all in bed, and hopefully that is the end of it.  If not, I'm locking my door and they can battle to the death!  In reality, if it continues I'll just ask dh to come home early from is regular Monday night friend hang out.   He did take over between work and leaving for his outing and got them all in bed before leaving.  But he is fully aware that I may call for reinforcements.  I've never needed him to bail on a planned hang out before, that is how bad today was.

This happened for us (although mine are too old to call them meltdowns) a couple of days ago. I attributed it to a change in the weather that hit the following day.

I hope you get some rest.

I hope they tired themselves out with all of the fuss and sleep deep and late for you.

They were all asleep by 9 tonight! I hope I don't see them until at least 8 am!

Well meltdown might not be the best word for it but it is what it felt like. The youngest two certainly melted down. The older three were just overly grumpy and hell bent on letting everyone know it.

Tomorrow will be a better day

Mine always took turns so that I could never have a good day.

At least, it seemed that way. But I only have the pair. I hope they cut you some slack tomorrow!

See with 2 I think I would prefer switching days. With 5, getting it done all at once is probably better for everyone in the long run.

And this morning I wake up to blueberry pancakes made from scratch. Apparently, all the kids helped make them and dh didn't suggest it, as he was already at work.
