Busy day here.

...coffee and coffee and coffee
...DH take DS19 to a success seminar at college
...print all the stuff for school on Monday and pack my school bag
...meet my mom in her new town, get her new keys, go to the quilt shop down there having a sale, bring mom back home
...DH pick up DS19 from seminar
....DH, mom, me go to mom's old town, pick up her U-Haul truck, drive back to our house, sleep (8 hr round trip.....)
...tomorrow: drive the U-Haul to mom's new town, unload, hang out with mom, go to MIL's house and watch football, come home, collapse in bed

**Pray that mom's friend in her old town actually FINDS the U-Haul key between now and then......her friends picked it up yesterday, they loaded up, drove/parked the truck at a neighbor's house, *gave mom the key*, and went to lunch at a fast food place. Mom put the key in her pocket and forgot about it. When she went to bed, she remembered it, and *could not find it anywhere*

She is hoping/thinking/praying it fell out of her pocket in the restaurant, but as they don't open until 11 this morning, and she's already on her way to new town, she's asked a friend to go check once the restaurant opens to see if it's there. She *does* have the key that locks the back of the truck, and the truck was still at her neighbor's when she left this morning. Prayers appreciated that the key is found and we get that all sorted so we can drive the truck down as planned. (or that the same friend can go and get a spare key from the U-Haul place?? Or something????)

Key has NOT been found (they have checked with the restaurant, the store she went to, etc.); people in the old town are searching.

Good gravy.

She's talking with people as to where they can keep searching/should keep searching, and then when all searching has been exhausted, she will call the UHaul place to see about getting a new key, and what on earth that will cost.

Good morning! The whole house, except for dd2 (practice early on Saturday is rough), slept in. I don't really know what is going on today. The girls have some time together planned, ds3 has tennis, and I am going to watch football. Certainly other things will be accomplished... But yesterday was super productive and everything was done...

  • coffee/paper
  • daily chores
  • maybe cut out a pattern and sew
  • unpin the shawl if it is dry
  • make some bread?
  • library hold needs to be picked up
  • plan next few projects (crochet, quilt, etc)
  • watch football
  • not sure what dinner will be

Have a great day!

Oh man! That's just stress no one needs. Your poor mom, friend and everyone. There must be a way to fix this, as I'm sure this is not the first time a key was lost. Hope it turns up. Tell mom to double check all her pockets - clothes she was wearing (pants, sweater) as well as outer coat. I know so many people who misplace their car key and find them in a different pocket.

It should be a great day. I'm going to ignore the rain and freezing rain out there, and just enjoy the indoors.

Done: coffee, breakie, e-mails

To do:

- Ds 15 basketball game,

- family and friends D&D game (I get to be an elf!!!)

- tennis match

Okay, key was found!! Her friend went and retraced all mom's steps yesterday, and found it in one of the stores. Yay!!!

I am heading to meet mom, go to sign those papers, go to quilt shop, etc.

ALL of my school stuff is printed and packed, ready to walk out the door Monday morning. Yay!

DH is home from taking DS, he's going to nap.

See y'all tomorrow sometime maybe.......going to be a crazy busy weekend.

Good morning!

We had terrible weather last night. The forecast was spectacularly wrong - instead of getting a foot of snow, we got 12+ hours of freezing rain. Everything is encased in a thick layer of ice and the ground is treacherous. Dh, ds19, and I were outside for hours making things safe for our animals. I'm feeling very thankful for skidloaders with chains, big piles of lime and sand, and ice cleats!

Everyone is sleeping now except for me - I'm on puppy duty. Hoping to catch a nap later in the day...

  • try to get some office work done, if I can keep my eyes open
  • unpack UPS boxes
  • do a few loads of laundry
  • harvest microgreens & plant a new tray
  • still need to get everything put back in my bathroom cabinets & drawers
  • dinner: ?? might make roasted poblano potato stew
  • hopefully have a relaxing evening, if the forecast for tonight is right (4" of snow) and we don't get more ice!😬

This reminds me of a "Blue's Clues" episode with a song, "Go back, go back, go back. Go back to where you were!"  😂  It works!

And humans! Concussions and broken bones from falls on ice are very common here.  I don't even want to think about a horse falling. 😨  Hope things go well until the ice melts.

We're getting loads of rain that will freeze up later tonight, too. I want the snow they keep talking about!

Yes, it is so dangerous for humans! I learned my lesson a few years ago when I fell and hit the back of my head, so I always wear cleats now. I did take a colossal spill last night when a horse knocked me on my butt (not his fault - he was startled by a noise and took off running), but no broken bones, so all's well that ends well!

Hope your rain turns to snow so you don't have to deal with ice!

We are iced in and waiting on the foot of snow that is supposed to come today too.  Dance was cancelled this morning so we just having an off day.  Yeah.  Except dd didn't tell me she needs new flat shoes and she has an audition on Sunday.  I don't have a solution for that.

I have a terrible migraine that I have had all week.

Sorry for the crummy weather up north! I won't complain about rain and thunderstorms now.  My daffodills and hyacinths are peeking up, about an inch. Spring will begin here in about 6 weeks.

I'm feeling a little more awake after three big coffees and a hot shower.

Dh is out plowing/scraping/trying to bust up the ice on our 1/2 mile lane. Also thawing out the kids' cars, which sat out overnight and are like big ice cubes.

Dd and ds19 are still snoozing, but need to get up soon or they are going to be awake all night.

Talked to ds21, who is at school.

Did a couple loads of laundry.

Cleaned the kitchen.

Gave the horses more hay and cleaned stalls. Dh is going to put down fresh bedding and top off the water tank for me.

Thinking about what to have for lunch now...

Chatted with dd about our 20 for 2020 book lists. Reserved some library books and ordered a few books on Amazon with points from my card. Hooray for free books!

Shooed dd into the shower and made ds eat some dinner.

Watched some of the Titans game with dh.

Next up: read

  • Helped Kid2 iron her shirt for tomorrow's horse show.
  • Panera for dinner.
