mom31257 Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) Good morning! Ds starts a dual enrollment class today. How did we get here? We just graduated one from college, and the other is starting. Time certainly flies and there's no stopping it. I think I'm being very sentimental because dd hasn't moved yet. I know when she does that will be it. She'll be a real adult, on her own, and it will never be quite the same again. Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy for her. It's what is meant to be, but I'm still sad that it's here. Enough crying and on to today. meals (still have to figure out dinner) ds to his new class errands out while he's there tutor 1 student school with ds pay bills pack up co-op stuff Edited January 10, 2020 by mom31257 7 Quote

Vacuum family room Write down my list of questions for the contractor coming tomorrow. Make dinner early. Meatloaf, butternut squash, broccoli, salad. Make tofu stir fry for ds for Friday lunch. Library Pick up ds from school. AHG tonight. Edited January 10, 2020 by ScoutTN 7 Quote

TheReader Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (((Hugs, Amy)))) This phase of getting to the kids growing up/getting ready to fly the nest is so odd and hard and good and odd. We're still a little away from that permanent move out part, but....((((Hugs)))). 4 1 Quote

Everyone up and getting ready for the day. ds3 is already working- he has settled on a schedule that is working well now. No car today- so pretty quiet here. coffee/paper daily chores weekly chores (a few left) check ds3's work output fill humidifier crochet (close to finishing) finsh cutting scraps in sewing room get ds3 to gym after dd2 comes home figure out dinner (probably simple pasta) Have a great day! 4 1 Quote
Selkie Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Good morning! (((Amy))) None of mine are completely up and out yet, but I can imagine how that will feel!😥 It is so gloomy here this morning and the wind is howling. It's supposed to rain all day and then snow all weekend. several hours of office work (pay bills and get my desk cleared off) vacuum & dust pay hay bill unpack produce box dinner: garlic sticky noodles try to get some reading and relaxation in tonight - been feeling way too wound up and stressed out this week! 4 1 Quote
TheReader Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Finished the math scheduling stuff. Whew. Remembered I need to edit/send in my corrected class description pages for next year. Oofda. I think I only need to do minor tweaks to that, so will save that for tomorrow just in case. 5 Quote
ScoutTN Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) Tons of electronic chores done, but haven't made a dent in my list yet! Hot water is back on!! Woohoo! But another plumber's bill too. Bad news is that our water pressure regular and shut off valve close to the street have to be replaced. Pressure is significantly over the highest allowed by codes. City will do some of this (at no cost to us), but there will be part that the plumber needs to do (another $500). We may not be able to replace our dishwasher for months because we cannot afford to buy one with all these bills. Next up: lunch! Edited January 9, 2020 by ScoutTN 5 Quote

He has a full load of core class subjects here at home and at co-op, so I wanted him to start with something light. A friend of his said she wished she had taken it before her classes that required presentations and such because she learned a lot of good tricks/tips in this class. Next year the plan is to take almost all of his core there. He'll still have chemistry through the co-op, and I'll teach that. And he'll have US History at home. It's a sophomore level class at college here, so I wasn't sure is he should take it before having had the freshman English class. 5 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted January 9, 2020 Author Posted January 9, 2020 It’s snowing. (This is considered an event here even though it isn’t sticking.) Had Insomnia in the middle of the night. Then overslept a bit. human care done pet care done. I am going to jinx it by saying that Neko hasn’t thrown up so far. Medical care done. I have “lost” another pound in the “five pounds I lose and gain over and over”. Two more pounds to my last recorded low weight where I hope against hope that I will keep losing. tried to vacuum. Unclogged vacuum. Tried to vacuum. Unclogged another part of the vacuum. Tried to vacuum. Unclogged yet another part of the vacuum. Finally was able to vacuum. Unclogged the vacuum one last time so that it will be ready for the next time someone wants to use it. dd will manage her xray on her own. 5 Quote
TheReader Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 FINISHED the school emails; this involved scanning in a bunch of pages and emailing those out. Did it. Ate lunch. Checked the homework page for DS14; not a lot to do other than a huge insane amount of reading which will.not.happen. I really need to think through whether to keep him in this class or not, or I need to communicate more clearly to the teacher that he is not going to keep up with the pace of reading she's set for the class at this point. It's rough. Grabbing a drink, heading up to work on the applique; I'd like to at least get it finished, send a photo of it to the client/friend, and then maybe get it on the quilt. Then will do school with DS14 and then pick up doing my "for Monday" school prep. 5 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 9, 2020 Author Posted January 9, 2020 Washed, dried and put away dishes, knives and pans wiped down counters and stove and microwave. made more calls for church. Talked to pastor dh. Holding off on more until he makes a decision on what to do next . Spent way too much time trying to get my Fitbit to sync correctly. It never did 4 Quote
TheReader Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Did school with DS14 - Lang Arts is done for the week. Will do/finish history tomorrow. Went to bank with DH, returned a movie, picked up deodorant for the boys. I always kind of shudder when one of three comes down to tell me, 2 days in a row, that they are out. What are the other 2 doing??? (they all share) Made some progress on the applique, broke a needle b/c I forgot to switch to the zig-zag plate. Ugh. A fancy/$$ needle, too. Le sigh. That was before the bank and school, so now that we're done with school, going back up to switch needles (and plates) and finish that up. I am really liking how it's going, and think my friend will be super happy, I hope. I should finish it before dinner. Yay!!! Made the boys put away all of their laundry, *and their clean towels*, and put sheets in the wash; swapping them to the dryer now when I go up. Did I mention I am *caught up on laundry??* I am. Yay!!! My school prep will move to tomorrow, but I got a LOT done so that's good. 5 Quote
mom31257 Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I figured out that if I don't put any cleaning on my list then I can check it all off. Did I mention I hate cleaning? LOL! 4 Quote
TheReader Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Finished the applique', sent the pic to the girl, who is "very impressed." Yay yay yay yay yay!!! (me, too, honestly.....I am insanely proud of it). Made/ate dinner. Watched tonight's part of Jeopardy GOAT tournament (it was on while I was cooking dinner). DH bathed the dog. Talked to my dad on the phone. Put sheets in the dryer. Going to sew the applique' onto the quilt top, and then we'll watch Lost in Space together. 3 Quote
Selkie Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 8:09 and I am exhausted.😴 Things that got done today: Made a small dent in my office work. Much to do tomorrow. Got another hay delivery & both sheds are full now. Paid my bill. Got a bedding delivery. Gave the stalls a thorough cleaning and put down extra bedding in preparation for the coming bad weather. A couple loads laundry. Washed my chore coat and hat. Cleaned up after the puppies approximately 1000 times. Will be glad when these little boogers get fully house trained. Rearranged a couple appointments. Ds21 came down for a quick visit and brought takeout for dinner. Unpacked the produce box and shoved it all in the fridge to deal with tomorrow. 2 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Fitbit synced when I wasn’t looking. I did hard things. Took apart all moved and set up a modular plastic shelving unit. Moved crates of heavy hymnals. That's all I am doing in the Schoolroom of Doom today. one load washed and dried and folded and put away. second load washed and dried. grocery shopped made dinner 2 Quote
SKL Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Howdy. I had a relatively productive day, though I still have a number of things hanging over my head. At least got some off my mind. Computer is super slow right now. Slept poorly kuz of alarms. Woke up a bit early and got a big project out, yay! Kids up and off to the school bus just on time, with gym and cheer uniforms. Kid fell and scraped her knee pretty good, but I didn't know that until evening. Cleaned kitchen, got the laundry up to date including some hand washing etc. Some other cleaning and purging, trying to get the house ready for the maids tomorrow. Caught up on emails, news, social media. Emailed 2 teachers. Checked school progress online etc. Fed the bird. Calendar work. Got some more client work out. Cleared a number of items off my to-do list for now. A little prep work for AHG. Picked up the kids at school, quick drive-thru dinner, AHG meeting. Stopped at CVS for medical supplies for kid's knee. Patched the knee. Kids doing homework - they have a marathon session of definition writing thanks to procrastination. To do: Get the kids to finish their homework - I foresee about 1 more hour? Some more work - mostly little things I think. To cut the number of to-do's for mental health purposes. Maybe a little reading? Hoping to do some yoga which I should have done earlier. 3 Quote
