lulalu
Thinking through putting ds 7yo in local school to get more time in the local language. Anyone do local schools as expats? Wondering what others have done to keep up skills in English. Right now ds reads a half hour each day and I think we will keep that up. But may it be too much to keep spelling, writing etc.
ElizabethB
We have had military friends do that with local schools in Europe. It was usually for the short term, a year or two, and they spoke English at home, so they generally did nothing. If it is longer term, you might want to do a bit of spelling and writing, you could do those once or twice a week or on Saturday. lulalu
Thanks. At this point we don't know if it will be more than a few years. We are only thinking of having more time in the 2nd language. The schools don't do a great job at academics.
