PeterPan Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 I'm looking for something special to take for mornings in the cabin on the cruise with my friend (female). I found this Stash Herbal Tea Sampler - Assortment Variety Pack Gift Set - Naturally Decaf Herbal Tea Bags - 50 Count, 25 Flavors - /w Eco-Friendly Cotton Bag but is there anything you like better? I had this amazing tea, came in little cream bags, and it was something something pomegranate. I have no clue what it was, but it was SO delish. And I really think I want decaf, low power, lol. And then a harder question. If you were taking your own mug, would you want *ceramic* or *thermal stainless*? I found these cute thermal tumblers Simple Modern 12oz Classic Tumbler Travel Mug with Clear Flip Lid & Straw - Coffee Vacuum Insulated Gift for Men and Women Beer Pint Cup - 18/8 Stainless Steel Water Bottle Pattern: Dreamcicle and Simple Modern 12oz Classic Tumbler Travel Mug with Clear Flip Lid & Straw - Coffee Vacuum Insulated Gift for Men and Women Beer Pint Cup - 18/8 Stainless Steel Water Bottle -Prism but I've never used them before. Do they get hot outside and will be uncomfortable? Would it be better to have them with handles? I kinda liked the idea of break proof metal, just because we'd be going out on the balcony, where a mug might fall or get tipped. But I wasn't sure if they were unpleasant for tea or great. What do you think? Oh, and neither of us drink (alcohol), so I figured this could be our special thing. I drank a surprising amount of hot tea on the cruise before and all they brought us was Lipton and sometimes green tea (boring). So I'm wanting something more exciting, exotic, special. Quote

And I've never had it! Looks like Trader Joes has some, so maybe between that and amazon I can track some down. Maybe I could do that and a Stash collection or something. 1 Quote
happi duck Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 I would prefer ceramic because of the coziness of holding it. Would they let you take a couple empty mugs to your room? 1 Quote
itsheresomewhere Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Check out Harney and sons tea. Every tea I have gotten from them is wonderful, 2 Quote
klmama Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Was it the Bigelow tea called Pomegranate Pizzazz? I like that one, and also the Peppermint. Both are better with a bit of sugar or honey, IMHO. 1 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) yogi throat comfort. yes, it's great for sore throats. But it. is. yummy.! eta: I dont' add sugar, it's sweet by itself. I normally would drink peppermint (good for tummy's), and never add sugar. Edited January 5, 2020 by gardenmom5 1 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 I have the simple modern 18 oz 'water bottle'. it has a flip lid for drinking. it keeps hot drinks hot - for hours. you don't want a straw with hot drinks, and you want something that will keep them hot. comes in all sorts of patterns. 1 Quote
madteaparty Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Mariage Freres makes some pretty blends. I think you can get online. Mine are white and green tea blends so not decaf but there’s so many. 2 Quote
hshibley Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 If you have a local shop loose leaf chamomile blends that contain the whole dried flowers would be my choice followed by mint. My favorite bagged tea is Celestial Seasons Candy Cane Lane decaf green tea with peppermint and a hint of vanilla. I would prefer a ceramic mug for the cozy factor. I drink my hot beverages fast enough that cooling down isn’t a factor. 1 Quote

I'm trying to remember if they were ceramic or plastic. I know they will bring you pitchers of hot water and cups for tea/coffee. But I was thinking they were small and plastic, hence the bigger mug idea. And the girl/fun theme idea. We don't drink (alcohol), so we gotta get a little wild somehow. 1 Quote

If you want a laugh, I had some white tea a while back at a convention and it was the BEST TEA EVER and I was like oh, find that! Well turns out, that stuff has HIGHER caffeine than normal, hahahaha. No wonder I was so full powered and happy! LOLOLOL. 1 Quote

Yeah someone said in those metal cups the tea might stay too hot too long and be frustrating. Maybe I just need unusually big mugs. Girl power themed. Quote

Actually, that's not even in stock. I'm looking for the rouge bourbon vanilla (rooibos), trying to find it in stock. Ha, found it for way less straight from them. Still looking for a deal. Wish they had a sampler. Ok, shipping is crazy high to get it here. Bummer. Edited January 5, 2020 by PeterPan Quote

I can get you some next time I’m in Paris but it won’t be in time for your trip..The blends I like— I’ve never found similar things anywhere, and i get fancy tea from China etc. Oh when I was out and had no way to restock (bc in the states they only sell a small subset of what’s available) I recall buying some stuff online from adagio teas. Nice enough. Edited January 5, 2020 by madteaparty 1 Quote
J-rap Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Our favorite teas are from Tea Source. I think their stores are local, but it's all available online too. Here are their herbal teas: https://www.teasource.com/collections/herbal-tea 1 Quote

Nice enough. I didn't realize you go to Paris to get it! So is it really THAT much better? Like if I bought two boxes and paid the shipping to get it here, is it really THAT good? It looks like it, but still. I may just have the imagination of it and the experience would just be mundane. I think I need to try rooibos tea first to see if I even like the genre. Then I'll know if I'll like an excellent version of rooibos. I've just never had it before. And Mariage Freres had this white tea with lavender and rosy mild (Paris-Provence) that seemed like a good idea. It is conspicuous to me that they don't do decaf. I was reading reviews that tea snobs don't like decaf, that it waters down the flavor to decaf the tea and that they'd rather drink rooibos. I don't know, lol. So I need to find some Rooibos locally and try it. Quote

I had it in person many years ago in NYC and then restock every time I or an obliging person goes to Paris. If you are considering the caffeinated blends, I can ship you a tiny bit 🙂 of En Provence or A l’opera from my personal stash. It’s loose tea though. ooh! I have a small box of roibos my daughter chose because it was called something like “candy tea” or the box was pretty or something, that’s decaf naturally I think? You can have it, we don’t do decaf things here 😂 she didn’t like it after all. Edited January 5, 2020 by madteaparty 1 Quote

mmasc Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) Another Harney and Sons fan here too. I mean, if you’re looking for special, those little tea sachets are just...💕. Their chamomile is good. Their peppermint is very minty (too minty for me). But my favorites are their green teas and I know you want herbal so I won’t go into which ones. 🙂 also, I think the second mug you linked looks very cruise-y, beach-y, and overall perfect for a girls cruise. Sure, a ceramic mug is nice, but those you linked look like something special for a cruise and would be especially great if you wanted to walk around the ship with your special, fancy cup of tea. 😁 Edited January 5, 2020 by mmasc Quote

Lady Marmalade Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Stash is my favorite brand of bagged tea. It helps that they make SO many flavors and they are very affordable. I have a grocery store that carries a significant amount of their teas. I think the Wild Raspberry Hibiscus might be my favorite caffeine free herbal that they make, but really, I've enjoyed almost all of them. 1 Quote
