SKL Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Done: Failed to get up and work in the wee hours. Ugh .... Need to prioritize all the stuff I wanted finished before office hours today .... Got kid1 off to her zoo career day event (driver is doing all kid driving today). It was not easy, so points for mama. Kid2 decided to skip horse camp. Whatever. I didn't even realize camp was open until last night. One less thing to worry about. Texted with kids' driver. Wondering if her accidental reply "those bitches like the candy haul" (meant for someone else) was about my daughters. Caught up on emails, social media, news. Working on coffee. To do: Prioritize client work. Bust ass and get it done. Yoga? Whatever else if I get the work done. 6 Quote
readinmom Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Morning, all! The house smells wonderful this morning. Three batches of cornbread, one chocolate cake w/chocolate buttercream frosting, one vanilla cake w/vanilla buttercream frosting...I was sad to see them all leave for dh's Christmas lunch. I think the scale and my blood sugar will be grateful, though. To do: coffee walk the puppy PIYO, Day 1 workout marinate chicken, make cucumber salad for dinner vacuum, mop entry way and kitchen finish up grading find planner for new year, set up stop by classroom, straighten up stray paperwork, organize desks, print rosters for new semester walk the puppy, part 2 dinner, relax, watch tv, read Have a great day! 4 Quote

Is it for post-secondary students or younger children? My dd is considering taking a Zoo-related program at a Community College. There is Animal Handler, Animal Trainer, and Zoo Technician specializations at Pike Peaks CC in CO. The text accident could also be an auto-correct. I'm trying to imagine what the original message could have been - let's assume it wasn't what you actually received. 😂 4 Quote
wintermom Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Lovely Monday morning here in the Great White North! Freezing ice chunks flying through the air with a bitter wind. Makes a change from freezing rain - remind me never to complain about freezing rain again. 😂 Done: Scraped the ice off the windshield of the van (partially was the best dh and I could do), made and drank my coffee aka elixir of life, protein breakie of left-over turkey from mil, carb breakie of oats and jelly. To do: Try not to get cabin fever by being stuck indoors, hope/pray the power stays on, power up my chrome book and phone just in case power goes off, get out yoga mat to do indoor movement. 5 Quote

Today's is exclusively for middle schoolers. I was lucky to fit it into our busy schedule. I am sure it will be great for my daughter; she just had a hard time getting her nerve up. This is so strange. She has done much more stressful things with much less fuss. As for the "bitches" comment, I don't know ... she really hates my kids and bitches about them to her daughter, who works at our company and tells her co-workers all the bad stuff. So I wouldn't put it past her to call my kids "bitches" in her personal texts. Just a nice reminder that while she acts like her shit and her kids' shit doesn't stink, well actually it does. 1 4 Quote
ScoutTN Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 (edited) Good morning! I had a hard time falling asleep, which I attribute to a cup of decaf at 8:30 pm. Then woke at 4 am, thinking, thinking. Finally went back to sleep 15 mins before my alarm went off. Anyway, today: Help dd stay on track doing some school this morning. ✅ Electronic chores ✅ Take ds and a friend to the Science center for the afternoon. ✅ Pick up dd from a friend's in the late afternoon. ✅ Dinner is ?? That must be really painful for you to deal with when this individual drives your precious dc and holds their lives in her hand on a regular basis. If she feels angry just having your dc in her vehicle, what is her concentration like while driving. I'm so sorry you have to face this. Edited December 30, 2019 by wintermom 5 Quote

Oh don't worry, she doesn't allow their filthy selves in her vehicle. She drives my car when they are with her. She did have an accident once when my kids weren't in the car. Might have been texting, I don't know. 3 Quote

You have written proof of her obnoxiousness and unprofessional behaviour now (if you were looking for it). 1 Quote

With her daughter as one of the boss's favorite employees, things would have to be a lot worse to fire the driver. Besides, it's not that easy to find people wanting to drive teens around at random times. I can't wait until they are 15.5 and can start learning to drive! Until then, they will just have to learn how to deal with difficult people. 2 1 Quote
SKL Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Not doing so good on the work front so far. I moved a couple small things forward. Feel like I'm on the edge of a panic attack. Sister called and asked for money (immediate bank transfer) for the 3rd time this month. Luckily I predicted this and transferred money into my account in advance. I need cash to pay my Christmas credit card bill, annual donations, and the horse people. Sigh. Do other people keep a cushion in their bank balance for when their sibling fails to do so? OK ... back to work. 2 3 Quote

SKL Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Checked when my continuing legal education (CLE) biennial ends. It ends next December. One less thing to worry about for now. Must remember to make my year-end donations. Seems like there are other things I might be forgetting .... Lord help me .... 5 Quote
Selkie Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Finished my office work. My desk is a mess, but I'm not going to worry about it until January 2. Ds21 and I did round 2 of horse chores. It has gotten much colder and windy this morning and is snowing. Ds21 just left to get winter tires put on dh's truck. Got most of the ingredients prepped for dinner. Realized I need to run into the store to get mushrooms while I'm in town. Ds19 and I are about to leave for our vet appt. 4 Quote

Selkie Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Back from the vet. Puppies did great, other than both of them getting carsick, and are now fast asleep. From their last appointment on 12/17, Tigerlily has gone from 10 lbs. to 13.8 and Lupo has gone from 11.1 lbs. to 14.2. Went to the grocery store and was in and out in less than five minutes, thanks to self checkout. Next up: Open UPS & Fedex boxes (Boxed, Chewy, and a couple late-arriving Christmas presents) Feed horses Assemble soup & bake rolls 5 Quote
wintermom Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Got my little walk in with the dog and shovelled some snow. That was my outdoor stuff checked off. Food related: I made a pumpkin pie (gluten and dairy free), and dd and I had some Fondue Chinoise (hot beef broth, then put in very thin pieces of raw meat and veggies). It was delicious! It's like Vietnamese Pho without the noodles. 5 Quote

SKL Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I found out someone at a client dropped the ball on an annual payment that had to be made in December. It would be a serious problem if it got paid after tomorrow. Thank goodness I was checking. I had to do a lot to get it paid today - I don't have signing authority and the majority of people are either on vacation or buried in year-end work. But I got it done, so yay me. I also got a bunch of other important transactions done. Still have some big projects I wanted to finish before tomorrow. I think I might need to take a nap and then work on them, because my head is saying no more right now. My zoo kid said the career day thing was fine. She's decompressing in front of the TV. Other kid had a clarinet lesson. I ordered pizza for dinner. Nice boring evening. I completed an Amazon order in time for my kid's birthday gifts to come (I hope). I have been eating so badly. I am also ridiculously behind on the laundry. Basically I am a slug. But, we have a whole day on Wednesday to get caught up, right? 5 Quote
ScoutTN Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Played Dutch Blitz with dh and kids. Made yummy beef vegetable soup and set it to cool. Finished some laundry. Left dd's clean in her basket on her bed. Reading one of my kids' Christmas novels bc I want something light and the other fiction on my nighttable is The Odyssey and The Outsiders. Not bedtime reading, at least for me. Wondering if Melissa in Australia and her family are ok. 😢🙁 2 1 Quote
readinmom Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Dh and I took all the cardboard boxes to the recycling dumpster...we looked like Amazon addicts. Tried out my new steam mop, definitely a learning curve there. All the food was a hit at the lunch today. Dh is now assembling the desk, we'll move it to its place and call it a night. At least the house is clean, and my grading will wait for me patiently. 3 Quote
