Alicia64 Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I need fun escape shows. I loved Mrs. Maisel and now I don't know what to watch. Any ideas welcome! Alley 1 Quote
OH_Homeschooler Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I would suggest other shows by the same creator: Gilmore Girls (Netflix) and Bunheads (Hulu). 1 Quote
KungFuPanda Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Don't watch Bunheads. It ends abruptly and then you'll be sad. I loved Bunheads. 😥 3 1 Quote
Farrar Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Well, do watch Bunheads so you can see the best ballet ever about the choice between paper vs. plastic at the grocery store. It does end too soon. As for what to watch next? Um... what do you like about Mrs. Maisel? The humor? The female centered element? The historic feel? The dialogue? I'll toss out Glow, on Netflix. It's about female wrestling. It's funny but also serious. And historic, but in a very cheesy 80's way. 2 Quote
MercyA Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Yeah, I liked both Glow and Mrs. Maisel. Neither are good for watching around kiddos, though. 😉 Quote

I loved Gilmore Girls and it’s the only series I’ve watched more than once, but only made it through a few episodes of Bunheads. I wanted to like it because I normally like shows involving ballet and one of the main GG characters was a lead, but I did not like it. I found Jane the Virgin to be a fun, escape type show. I also just finished watching the whole Elementary series on Hulu. Edited December 30, 2019 by Frances 1 Quote
madteaparty Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I mean these have nothing in common but this is what I’m watching after Mrs Maisel: Bonfire of destiny (just started. It’s not escape much but the clothes and houses are!) and Call my agent, both French shows (trying to improve my french but staying amused enough to do so on the treadmill 😂 I should like Fleabag, and I will give it another whirl but I found it a bit crude. Suzanne in ABQ Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I have been loving Mrs. Maisel, and Gilmore Girls is on my list. I highly recommend The Good Place. It's fun and quirky. Quote
BrittiBop16 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) I haven't watched Mrs. Maisel yet but you might try Getting On (Alex Borstein is in that, too), Veep, or Schitt's Creek. Oh, and I forgot the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix. Edited December 31, 2019 by BrittiBop16 Quote
KungFuPanda Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I came here to thank whoever recommended Elementary and I can’t find the post. I swear I never knew it existed until I read about it here. I watched the first episode tonight. That’s just weird. I’m going to bed. Quote
