Spider bite?

Trying to decide if this is infected or needs attention.  The red part isn’t growing but it does hurt.

yes, it looks like a spider bite.  I would go to one of those urgent care places.

That ring makes me nervous. Do you have brown recluse spiders in your area? I would get it checked out. Antibiotics might be necessary.

Yes, the darker ring was drawn to make sure it wasn’t spreading.  It’s not, but it’s raised, reddish purple, and painful.

Please go get it checked. One of my favorite checkers at my grocery store ended up in ICU unconscious for five days and had to have major surgery because of a spider bite (Brown Recluse). She missed 3 months of work. Get to an urgent care.

Don’t live in brown recluse range.  I got it Christmas Eve and actually showed it to the allergist I saw on the 26th, who shrugged and said it was fine and this was a big time of year for spider bites.   It doubled in size between night of 24th and Christmas morning, hence the circling.  It’s actually shrunk considerably, but it’s more red and purple than it was and the white inner circle has gotten bigger.  It doesn’t hurt a ton or itch, but it is uncomfortable.  Benadryl made it hurt less.  I had MRSA cellulitis about six years ago.  This doesn’t even come close to that pain. I’d prefer to avoid the doctor’s office and its germs, but I also don’t want to be irresponsible.  Ugh.
