Melissa in Australia Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 we packed ready to evacuate. I have everything essential in just one backpack, just in case we have to make a dash to the beach. fires are coming within the next 2 days. Nobody knows exactly where the fires will end up, but both my ds told us to get ready , especially for Monday. 7 Quote
Elizabeth86 Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Clean the refrigerator out, make a shopping list, go grocery shopping. Return library books. Thinking of doing some science today. We have taken a bit of a Christmas break, but my kids are little and do much better if we aren't fully off school for very long. We like to do something light, enjoyable and something we struggle to make time for like science 7 Quote
MysteryJen Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Good morning! It snowed a little last night and we all slept in except for dd2 (practice) and dd1 who went with her to work. Today is family fun day- ds1 leaves tomorrow (weather permitting). We are going go-karting and lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant and then home for football, snacks and relaxing. So before we go... coffee/paper shovel porch and walkway (someone must have gotten a new snowblower for Christmas- because the sidewalks are done!) little breakfast put away some laundry clean kitchen head out- Have a great day! 6 Quote

readinmom Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Melissa, be safe! Jean, how's your daughter feeling today? Morning, all! Woke up to dd getting sick (not good with this). I'm sure she ate something that triggered her food allergies. Bleh... To do: Target run to pick up furniture order, a few groceries, steaks for bbq and snacks for football games library run Pick up meds for dd Print stuff at Staples or FedEx, buy frames Work on music room, hallway cabinets Watch football, work on some grading (procrastinating greatly on this) OR ***We may or may not go to dh's family gathering today. Too much to share right now, but it's part of the reason I've been off the boards for so long. Dh is torn...I'm pretty firm in not going but I'll go with to support him. 6 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted December 28, 2019 Author Posted December 28, 2019 I am frustrated with my body. I desperately need to get back to my "slow and steady" pace but life hasn't allowed that lately. I was pushing myself hard for over a week until my body just said "enough ". I feel terribly guilty that Dh has had to deal with the bulk of the Schoolroom of Doom for the last two days. I was able to do about an hour yesterday but that was it. I feel guilty because it reached its doom state under my lack of energy and housekeeping skills to begin with. Dd was starting to hurt pretty badly last night. I haven't seen her since she went to bed around 8 pm. 6 Quote
ScoutTN Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 @Melissa in Australia praying for safety! Jean, I hope you can rest and get back to that slow and steady pace soon. Praying for you and for your dd! Our plumbing issue is NOT solved!! We replaced the toilet last week, but still have water leaking. Dh and the plumber are investigating now. We need this fixed asap!! Water damage mitigation guys come Thurs. Today: I've done some AHG things, reset the table with clean linens, washed the wax off my advent candle holders, sent some texts and made a grocery list. Next up: Take dd to my mom's and grocery shop 5 Quote
Selkie Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 (((Jean))) I hope you and dd have a restful day and can take it easy and recuperate. (((readinmom))) So sorry about the family difficulties. Been going through that ourselves for the past 1.5 years with dh's family. In the past, we chose to have no contact with some of them, but are now being forced to because his dad is in poor health. I swear, every single one of them is a total weirdo (not weird in a good way, either😛). No idea how dh turned out to be the one and only sane one of the bunch. (((Scout))) Ugh, I hate it when you think something is fixed and then it's not. Hope the plumber is able get the leak stopped today! 4 1 Quote

ScoutTN Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 (edited) Back from mom's. Dh is taking the kids roller skating.❤️ this! Plumber checked the water meter and says no leak. Just water that is pooled under the vanity and the wall. Turns out there is linoleum under the current floor, so water on top of that. Nothing to do but soak it up with towels and wait for the drying-out team to get here on Thursday. My nausea was gone Christmas Eve until today. Four very relaxed days. Wonder if it's stress related? Next up: Make chx chili and salad ✅ nap ✅ AHG things? Nope, not today. Edited December 28, 2019 by ScoutTN 5 Quote

ScoutTN Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 (edited) Folded and put away a load of laundry. Unloaded the dw and set the table Reading til my people get home. eta: Dinner was good. We all just read books tonight, with quiet classical music on in the background. Very nice til Ds began acting like an annoying, argumentative teenager. Sigh. I've retreated to my room. Jean in Newcastle Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 One load of laundry washed and dried Finally after months of procrastinating I ironed the church’s tablecloths. Tablecloths are like the easiest thing ever but I hate ironing them because they seem to go on forever. 2 Quote
SKL Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Howdy! It's still Saturday somewhere, right? It was a pretty good day, other than the fact that I almost got zero client work done. Got a late start thanks to my typical alarm issues. Seems I didn't correctly set my new alarm clock & didn't hear several other alarms. 😕 Kids ready & drove to their friend's house, then to McD drive-thru and dropped them off at the horse barn. This is my eldest's first time back at the barn in about 2 years. They had a great time! Meant to do some work, but got stuck in a long conversation about kid mental health issues. Delegated the kids' further driving to the auntie so I could do the next bullet. Auntie took the 3 girls to lunch, dropped off friend and then drove the kids to another friend's house where they spent the remainder of the day laughing and playing. Attended a 4 hour TKD camp and took and passed another belt test. I am now one belt away from cho dan bo; and I already know the basics of the form to earn that. (My body was very fatigued after 4 hours as I'm out of shape ... hopefully inspiration to get back in shape!) Snuck a nap. Discussed plans for New Year's Eve. Made the kids come home, shower and go to bed. Fooled around on the internet when I should have been working. So now I am theoretically going to sit up working until I get a few big things done. And then I guess it will be time to go to church. 2 Quote
