Monday’s almost done here.  We have a heatwave coming up with four days over 40 (104) and some higher.  So I’ve been running trying to get all the out the house jobs like shopping, library, pet feed, fuel and cash, school books from the marketplace.   Plus trying to keep pets and livestock cool and comfy as it’s already warm.  And supervise chickens hatching and a new mamma hen.  Feeling exhausted 😩

I need to cook dinner, fold a clothesline full of washing, walk the dog and tidy up.   Oh and pack some lolly bags for dhs volunteer fire brigade Chrissy do.

and speaking of mail I forgot to mail that card.

Howdy!  I am not ready for Monday ... but I'm more ready than sometimes.  If only it wasn't already 5am!

My kids were really putzy Sunday and ended up getting to bed midnight-ish or after.  That isn't as bad as it sounds since they didn't wake up until past 9am, but still.  And one kid didn't even finish all of the homework she was supposed to do.  😕

On the positive side, they did finish tomorrow's homework and start on the stuff due later in the week.  And I did review what has been done so far, so I won't have to review it in the morning.  But they will have to get up a bit early to make some corrections.

I spent a bunch of time on another Christmas order on Amazon.  Hopefully this is the last one.

Work-wise, I hope to get focused again and crank out a bunch of reports.  Looks like we have at least one conference call today, ugh.  And I just remembered a tax payment that is due today ... hope the client is around to sign for it ... I have always sent it to them well in advance before.  Not good since it's a new person and they already have other old tax issues that I was trying to help them with.  Oh well, can't change the past ....

I need to make some calls on the personal side - trying to remember what for ... one health issue for sure; maybe a dentist appointment for the girls; signing up for some day camps; and I thought there was something else.

I also need to pay some bills.

Well, for now I had better set about 50 alarms and get a bit of sleep!

Got dinner done helped with the lolly bags

walked the dog, locked up the chooks etc, helped pick the last of the cherries, printed some stuff for dh,  I didn’t get to the washing and I can’t now it’s almost 11.  Still need to feed the cat then heading to bed.

the printing was nearly a crisis because I didn’t buy paper because it was $9 a ream (usually pay $5).  Luckily I managed to round up enough.  Next time I’ll pay the extra $4 and save myself the stress.

It's a cold one out there, which feels strange after reading about 40+C temps in Aussie. We have it at -14C this morning. The snow is still frozen onto all the tree branches after our freezing rain followed by snow. It's quite lovely and bright outside (at least looking out the window). Once the body goes outside the loveliness turns to shock. 😉  Thank goodness the wind has died down.

Another question for people of the south; is there such a thing as the opposite of "wind chill" with heat? Humidity aside, does wind make the heat feel worse or just spread fires?

Done: School run with dd and ds, coffee, breakie, work e-mails

To do: Read my friend's grandfather's memoirs so I can return the booklet to her, walk with a friend, avoid thinking about all the Christmas stuff I should probably do.

Brrrr that sounds cold

round here wind with heat mostly makes us paranoid. It can be a little more drying on the skin and definitely the trees but I don’t think it’s equivalent to wind chill.

Drove the kids to school again.  Long story.  At least I got them there in time.

Cleaned the kitchen.

Fed the bird.

Set up and started using my new rock salt spreader.  It's heavier than I expected but OK.

Putzing through small items on my work list.

Driver can't drive today so I will need to take Kid2 to clarinet.  Also need to text re the other days this week.

“Heat index” combines heat and humidity.

And no one likes it when that number rises. 😨  At least with wind-chill a smart person can and will cover their skin. With hot, humid conditions you're s.o.l.

Trying to squeeze in a lot of work while the puppies nap. It's like having a baby, only more fun.

Got all the laundry washed/hung/folded/put away.

Ordered a gift.

Chopped garlic, onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, parsnips, and kale for tonight's soup.

Cleaned the kitchen.

Going out now to get all the horses haltered and ready for the farrier.

Well I got up the energy and made some phone calls.

First to the health care place re mental health services.  They don't know what to do with us and will call us back tomorrow.

Second to the dentist to confirm my appointment and schedule the next cleanings for my kids.   The next open slot for 2 kids outside of school hours is in April!

Next to the young chef academy to sign the kids up for 2 half-day cooking camps for next week.

And I texted our driver, a friend, my sister, and a fitness place that contacted me because I ran the turkey trot.  They won't take my kids until age 14, so that was a short conversation.

I still feel like I'm forgetting a phone call I planned to make today.  What was it??

I had to revise an urgent document for a closing that is supposed to happen today - because of an $8.50 bank fee that just hit.  😕  Also sent some other work emails.

My big client conference call is in about 10 minutes ... per one calendar.  Though my other calendar seems to think it was 45 minutes ago.  Guess I'll find out soon enough.

Well at least I did make it to my coumadin appointment and back safely before I became super spacey.  I am having a migraine equivalent  due to coming severe storms.  Because of that I cannot drive to do anymore errands, schools are closing early and so the concert we were going to attend was rescheduled too.  At least we now can get things like grocery deliveries so easily so I just used instacart and the shopper is shopping.  When she gets here in about a half an hour, I figure, because she is more than half done with item shopping including the longest one of deli meats. I will be able to have lunch and take my meds to help with it.

Otherwise, some online shopping, little cleaning, dinner, and relaxing are now in order.

I can\t stand cold wet windy days worse than 90 degrees with high humidity.  In fact, neither dh nor I like snow anymore and are happy to live in a place where we get very little snowfall and often have 60 degree highs in winter though we just as often have highs in the 40s in winter too.

Very few people like snow (if you don't count children), especially when they have to shovel it, drive in it or navigate walking on the snow/ice. Many people don't have a lot of options, though. Thank the good Lord there is such a thing as spring, summer and fall. 😉

Unloaded the dishwasher

Sent some emails.

Thought about tomorrow.

Home, in jammies, in bed. I love being warm and cozy when it's cold and wet outside. I was cold all evening. I hate winter.

Reading is next.
