caedmyn Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 We have a triangle-shaped storage closet in our basement, and I’m having trouble thinking of anything I can store in there besides extra blankets and pillows. It has a few random tubs in it currently. It’s about 3’ deep at the deepest point and 2.5’ wide at the widest. The floor section is about 2.5’ tall. Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Something crushable and not used very often, like sleeping bags? Or, in the back corners, overflow storage of canned foods for emergencies, with your regular totes in front of them? 1 Quote
Monica_in_Switzerland Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 I would recommend storing properly folded American flags in there. It's perfect for it! 1 11 Quote
WendyLady Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 It looks pretty long - could you store wrapping paper rolls in there? you could have a gift wrap shelf with all the supplies. Canning stuff. Other kitchen stuff you use just occasionally - for me that's like the cake stand, large drink dispensers, roasting oven, etc. I love little closets! You can never have too much storage! 3 Quote
Tap Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Would it be more useful if you removed a shelf or two? I removed presinstalled shelves in 2 of our closets to make them more usable. Storage for vacuum, carpet shampooer, swifter style mops etc Or off season sporting gear. Bats, lacrosse sticks, hockey sticks etc. Travel gear or suitcases. Backpacks. Put in a clothes rod for a few off season coats. Put off season shoes in bins or on a shelf. Outgrown toys or supplies (like pack and play) that you want to save for when company visits. 4 Quote

ElizabethB Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 You could make your own cardboard boxes to fit the space, decorate them if you want them to look nice. This time of year is a great time to collect boxes! Quote
plansrme Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Would it be more useful if you went vertical by removing the shelves and using it as a broom closet? Vacuum cleaner, ladder, that kind of stuff? I keep a second vacuum cleaner in my basement so I don't have to lug one up and down the stairs. Also, then you could put one of those pantry-door units on the inside of the door and use it for all kinds of normal-shaped stuff. It's an adorable closet. 2 Quote
katilac Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Seldom-used pots or kitchen gadgets - I have a few items I don't use often but when I want them, I want them! I keep track of things in odd places pretty well because I have a notebook designated for the purpose. Seasonal tablecloths and placemats. Decorations for holidays you mildly decorate for. Toys the bigs have outgrown but a younger child will grow into. Otherwise, I like the idea of going vertical. I have more things that need to be stored vertically than seems strictly reasonable. 6 hours ago, plansrme said: Would it be more useful if you went vertical by removing the shelves and using it as a broom closet?
