ScoutTN Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Hooray for Lupo and Tigerlily! They are so cute, Selkie! Life here is going from stressful to disaster. Woke this am to find that a toilet is leaking in/under the walls and part of our hardwood flooring is damaged. Dh is figuring out who to call. We have NO money and so will have to borrow against our equity or dh's 401k. Bc it is water damage, it needs to be done ASAP before we get mold or more hardwood ruined. Nothing I can do about it right now, so today will proceed as planned. I need to work some to pay for school for ds, but now I will need to work lots. ☹️😢 Today: Try not to cry Math with ds. Then shopping. He must have khakis that fit! Iron a shirt for ds and make sure he's packed. Medical appt for me - new pcp and hopefully a referral to an ENT. Drop ds at my mom's AHG Christmas party Discuss money with dh 4 Quote
Selkie Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Scout, so sorry about the leaky toilet! I hope the damage is minimal and can be easily fixed.🙁 Jen, yay for having ds home! My boys aren't done with finals until the 20th. My list for today: try to get work done while wrangling puppies have dh pick up meds from the horse vet another hay delivery? lots of office work lots of laundry (one load done already) lots of Christmas prep - still need to decorate the tree and order a few more things unpack produce box water plants dinner: tamale skillet with cornbread 3 Quote
TravelingChris Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Oh Scout, I am so sorry. We had a leak in the wall and I was super worried but it turned out to be not very expensive and damage repair wasn't either. We just boarded up the wall until another time because we were going to repaint that room anyway. We also are living with one of our bathrooms just having the cement subflooring because we had to tesr out carpeting but don't want to piecemeal a floor when we are planning to redo the entire area in the future. 4 Quote
TravelingChris Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 (edited) Redo medications - still have to do Call son and see if he can fix my computer problem --- supposedly coming over Deposit check - couldn't do it online because it is in a weird shape (ADT class settlement check for 15 something) at least I have a local credit union account now so maybe tomorrow Write Christmas cards. Done and sent Keep trying not to cry--- it has been a very hard week with lots of deaths that are affecting me plus I really have to not do too much so Christmas is just very hard. Make dinner. (Probably not since dd has migraine and also needs to work 2 hours, ds is taking a nap and who knows when he will come over, and already knew dh was at board meeting w potluck. I can't cut things without someone else being in room when my RA is bad since too high risk of me cutting myself) Concert (probably not because no one else would probably no one else is going and even though I can easily walk to it and back, streets will be icy here so not s good idea) Edited December 12, 2019 by TravelingChris 2 2 Quote
SKL Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Sorry about the toilet, scout. We have had that happen multiple times. I hope it isn't too expensive to fix. 4 1 Quote
SKL Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Howdy, happy Thursday! I'm so jazzed that I survived Wednesday ... but it's time to start prioritizing today! I have a pile of work that has been too neglected, and some stuff I sent out yesterday that has come back for more. One conference call that I know about, later in the afternoon. Done: Went to bed late, ugh. Got up about 6am to wake kid. Forced kid to plunge toilet since she keeps clogging it. (Low water = you have to flush more often if you're going to use a lot of TP!) [that didn't stop kid from nearly clogging it again before leaving for school] Reviewed math. Kids needed too many math corrections, so I kept them home from the school bus & drove them to school. Cleaned garbage out of my car, got gas, got the mail, brought up the garbage cans. Cleaned kitchen, including spilled yogurt .... Processed clothes from the dryer. Looked for my kid's coat, but didn't find it. A new mystery! Calendar work. Finalized plans for kid's birthday outing with friends. Caught up on emails, news, social media. A little online shopping, but they don't have what I want. Texted the kids' driver re tonight's plans. Working on my 2nd cup of coffee. To do: Work - go through emails / to-do lists, prioritize, and get stuff out. May need additional conference calls, ugh!! Some more house cleaning. I think the maids are coming tomorrow, and we are nowhere near ready. Would like to make progress getting ready for Christmas. Laundry - I would like to get caught up today so there isn't a bunch lying around tomorrow. Exercise, reading. Practice my TKD form. Personal organization. Kids - Kid1 has cheer tonight so she'll stay at school until after the game (about 7pm). Kid2 wants to go there after horse riding. I assume I will pick up after ... I was hoping to go to TKD today - they have an adult class at 7:30? Depends on whether I get done with the kids on time ... might drop them off at Chipotle across from the dojang .... Kids' homework if they don't finish it by then. (They probably won't.) Work with the girls to get their rooms somewhat maid-ready. Feed the bird. Whatever I'm forgetting. 5 Quote
Selkie Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Kitchen is clean. Another load of laundry is done. Puppies are snoozing in their playpen, so I am going to sneak out to do horse chores. Then I need to get my butt in the office and stay there until I get a big pile of work done. 3 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Bother. I did one of those Windows updates and now my laptop won’t boot up. Fortunately I have my mini computer- aka smartphone.. Ds is in the middle of finals so I can’t ask him for any help. human care done pet care done medical care done morning exercises done 4 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Washed dishes, pans and knives. wiped down counters, stove and microwave. one load of laundry washed and now in the dryer. Another load of laundry is in the washing machine CPAP has been disinfected vacuumed all of the main floor I was vacuuming and accidentally sucked up a spool of thread: just the right size to completely block the tube and get stuck. Fortunately my husband has forceps. The operation was a success. 4 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 Juliet pee'd twice at the pet store today. So exciting! 4 Quote
SKL Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Once again I feel like I worked my butt off, but have nothing to really show for it. Ugh. Survived 2 conference calls, so yay. At the moment I don't have any on the calendar for tomorrow. My new emails are more or less under control. I pretty much put 1 major project behind me for now. Kept a few clients reasonably happy for now. Now I am going to go take a shower and hopefully pick up my kids and get to TKD ... it's going to be tight though. And stressful. Should I just give it up and go tomorrow? Practice at home? Yes, I think that is what I will do. Yay for a decision made! Tomorrow will be easier since usually nobody will guilt you for not working on Friday evening. But I still need to go take a shower and be presentable to pick my kids up from their school basketball game .... 5 Quote
ScoutTN Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 (edited) Insurance company gave us an adjustor/contractor to call and the recording said out of the office til the 19th. Dh was going to leave it at that. I called the ins office and got two more options. Calling them early tomorrow! Dd and I are having hot tea and a snack before heading out to AHG. Fortunately I have my mini computer- aka smartphone.. I think my computer did that earlier this week.. I have been using phone too since that happened. My laptop died last month and I ordered new one and told dh that I wanted it as an early Christmas present but I guess he forgot and wrapped it or had dd2 wrap it. I actually have no idea when he had all this time to wrap because he or dd2also declutter my office and living room. My office not only had some of my stuff but stuff of everybody else. I am trying to think positively but all my papers that are important to me are somewhere and I do not know where. On a better update, kids are cooking dinner ( I did some) and ds fixed my computer issue too. 3 Quote
ScoutTN Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Yeah, that windows update did something weird to our laptop too. AHG Christmas party was very laid back and fun. Mostly talking and eating. Dh thinks the toilet is leaking on the floor and not under it. He is calling a plumber tomorrow to get an estimate/opinion. Not sure when insurance guy will get here. Got a referral to an ENT today, for a month from now. Quiet house tonight with ds at my mom's. Last up: Read myself to sleep. 2 Quote
