prairiewindmomma
Does anyone else volunteer during instructional time? How have your experiences been? I volunteer weekly during language arts to run small group activities.
school17777
Nope. Our school requires an FBI clearance which you used to have to drive 30 minutes away to get during business hours. Now, you can get it at the local library during their hours, but I work during school hours now.
Lecka
I have only volunteered for things like field trip chaperone and running an activity at a holiday party.
goldenecho
I volunteer teaching art through the Art Odyssey program at our school. They don't have a separate art teacher, so unless classroom teachers decide to add something, this is all the art they get. I really enjoy it. Library Momma
At our schools you cannot volunteer in the classroom other than as a chaperone or to help with a holiday party. There are paras and tutors (and sometimes student teachers) to help with any instruction. I did however volunteer for years at the library in the upper elementary school. I helped with shelving books/book check out, so the librarian had more time to focus on the lesson of the day.
