Any Washington Nationals fans on here?!?!?

My brother, a serious lifelong Braves fan, told me he's pulling for the Nats because he wants this guy - who he thinks seems like a complete tool - to lose his bet. Lol.

One more. I have a cold, but if I feel well enough, we've got tickets to go watch at the stadium again. It's just down the Metro line a few stops for us, so it's easy to go or not.

This!

My favorite thing about the Nats' success this year is that it seems to me that it all started when a loving father (Parra) chose his 2 yod's favorite song as his walk up song ("Baby Shark") and then the fans got into it and then everyone - the players and the fans - started having fun. And then the Nats started winning! All from a fun teammate who apparently is big on positive thinking and hugs ("The duration" lol!)

Like this article too.

Thank you for your example and sorry for my dig at Bregman above. I will say, Houston absolutely deserves to be there, and it has been a wonderful match up. All props to the Astros. We have always liked Jose Altuve. I mean, look at that size and he's a force in Major League Baseball!

As for Justin Verlander, he is an outstanding pitcher and from all accounts a great guy. He is from VIRGINIA! Nuff said?

*Raising my water bottle to the toast "May all the calls be fair!"*

I read up on the Baby Shark thing after you guys mentioned it; the first time I saw Soto clap that way (game one? after a HR) it seemed SOOO braggy & rude. Then read the story and realized what it was. OH! How fun! LOL!

DH loves Cabrera so much because he seems/looks so tough and all, and then he's one of the most visible in doing the Baby Shark claps at each instance. So hilarious! DH calls him "baby shark" even though I keep explaining it was Parra who started it.

No worries on the comment about Bregman; he is a little braggy. But agreed on Altuve; we just love him. You guys are missing out on his humor, there's a local/regional grocery chain (HEB) that uses the players in their commercials. Hilarious to watch! Altuve is in a lot of them.

We feel about Rendon how you feel about Verlander (Rendon is from here).  And your pitcher did a phenomenal job (Strasburg? did I spell it right?) Man, that guy is good.

Tonight's game is going to be so stressful. I repeat my toast -- may all the calls be fair.

Oh, Mattress Mack is a local legend, and truly fantastic guy, actually. He's been a staple of the Houston landscape for decades. (and, ummm, if the Nats win, he wins his bet.....). He does a lot for charity, for the community, and is deeply loved here. He made this same bet in 2017 (and lost, so refunded everyone their purchases from the time period), then again in 2018, and again now.

ETA: Oh!! Ha! Just looked more closely at the article you linked......I didn't realize he's placing sports bets to cover the losses of his mattress promotion! Hilarious!

Links, please?!

DH called me out on my Bregman/Bragman comments saying I would think Juan Soto is a punk if he wore pinstripes (or almost any other uniform). He said the same thing about Manny Machado when he was an Oriole. That said, he doesn't like Alex B either.

I'd love to see/hear those ads w/ Altuve! I did link the funny Mercedes ads (most radio, one video) w/ Ryan Zimmerman on this thread, didn't I? So funny. ETA: Yes, here it is again.

Let me see what I can find...

Here's one where several players are "auditioning" to be the ice cream spokesman for the H.E.B. brand of ice cream --
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boJ_tQQCX2Y

Here's one about their meat dept/products --
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGFZe_tqSp8

And this is one from last year, with them tasting HEB brand specialty coffees --

https://www.facebook.com/HEB/videos/10156796414242439/?v=10156796414242439

There are tons with the various TX sports teams -- he uses the Texans in a bunch, as well as the Spurs (not sure the Rockets have been in any.....). They are cheesy, but great fun! (the random dude in the ice cream one and the dream one is the HEB guy).

He's actually loved in Houston because of his charity work and especially for his hospitality during the flooding after Hurricanes Harvey and Katrina.

I can hardly stand it -- LOL!!!!  The boys and I ended up listening to the first inning on the car radio, watching the play by play on the iPad and then watched a little when DH went to bed -- LOL.  I sent the boys to bed around 10:30 and I watched a bit more until I fell asleep on the couch.

We are doing the same thing tonight :-), which is the same thing we did the first 2 games -- LOL.

I remember hearing about him during/after Harvey!!!  Really haven't paid attention to the bet thing, but seems like a great guy!

Embarrassing to admit, I do not know how to watch it!  As I said early in the thread, I am not a sports fan, but I watch this game, so exciting!    DH, the lucky ducky, is out of town and has great viewing choices.  I have Fox Sports pulled up on my iPad...there is a "Countdown to Watch" screen happening.  Will I be able to stream for free?

(apologizing for my antiquated knowledge of watching anything)

It is on regular Fox TV station, not the special Fox Sports station. I don't know if they stream that one or not (I would check Fox dot com if you don't get regular network TV). But it's a normal network channel you should be able to watch.

Thanks.  It is asking me for my provider - which I do not have.  I also do not have local reception (not that FOX is local) b/c we live too far out.  I will listen instead.  Enjoy the game!

You can also look at the play by play with the pitch tracker while you listen.  Google Nats score and it should pop right up showing the current score and inning.  Look down and you can click on play by play.

Once I allowed the site to access my location, it began streaming.  Tells me I have an hour of watching...maybe I can refresh it after that.  This is a miracle that I have gotten this far - Go Nats!

Congrats Nats fans!  Enjoy the parade!

(Heads up, if you are ordering WS champs merchandise online, order early if you need it by Christmas!  My mom is just this week getting some of the things she ordered right after the Blues won their worst-to-first Stanley Cup in June, like ornaments.  And B&M stores could barely keep up with the demand.)

Hoping that the visiting team wins every game of this series.  :)

This was wild, and the first time that it has happened, according to the news. I was rooting for the Astros, but congrats to the Nats fans here.

Thanks for the congrats. It's insane. Winning every away game hasn't happened in any sport that has such a championship (hockey, basketball, baseball). Insane, right?

I just realized that today is Halloween, lol.

Farrar, will you attend the parade? The hubs won't go, but I'm thinking about it.

Oh definitely! Me and dh and probably the child whose life is not totally subsumed in Nutcracker. Pm me if you’d like to say hi. I was laughing about it because like 90% of the time if I walk that route it’s for political purposes. I was like, wait, we’re going to go down there for a non political rally?!

The hubs is a definite NO on the parade, but I haven't ruled it out. I will PM you if it looks like I'll go. My boss is probably going to take his 9 yos, but I wouldn't dream of asking if I could tag along.

Regardless if I attend or not, please come back here and tell us all about the parade, OK?

I would have responded earlier, but we went to bed super early last night! This World Series wore us out! I slept very little after they won.
