cost to ship a box from US to UK?

Recommended Posts

I have a 3.5 lb box that I want to ship to a friend in the UK. Looking at the USPS site, it looks like it'll be about $60? Does this sound correct? Is there a less costly way to ship it?

will it fit in a flat rate box?

when I've purchased stuff from the UK - I always cringe when waiting to hear how much it will cost to ship.

supposedly stamps.com will ship for less.  you can also check out ups, or fedex.  you'll need dimensions, and weight.  and... different sized boxes can have different costs - even if they weigh the same.

Postage is always so expensive. I recently got a quote for a math manipulative from the manufacturer in USA item was $70 us. Postage was quoted as $100 us. Converting to au$ and the whole thing would be well over$200au.   sure helps me to decide I don't need it after all

Do you have a postal forwarding service?  The cheapest way to send something from the US to NZ for instance is to get it shipped to the NZ post warehouse in the US who will then forward it at a way cheaper rate than for example AOPS.
