Just Kate
Dh and I are going to Las Vegas in late October to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. We had originally thought of a cruise or a trip to the Caribbean, but hurricane season scared us away (plus dh was never sold on the cruise idea anyway). He really wanted to go to Vegas and I’m just excited to get a trip somewhere different! So...where to stay? I think we’d like to keep the room to $200 or less per night. What do to? Where to eat? Thanks for any help or experience you can share!!!
Just Kate
We are pretty boring and haven’t travelled a ton, so I’m pretty open to lots of suggestions! We do enjoy good food and would definitely love to see a show. I keep reading online and getting overwhelmed. ETA: we definitely want to experience Vegas. I think we want to stay on the strip and see a show that would be known as a Vegas show. Edited September 7, 2019 by Just Kate

Chris in VA
My son is there on a business trip right now, and is going to celebrate his birthday (30!) tomorrow. He is staying one night at the Ballagio. (Sorry, not spell checking that!) He is going to the Hoover Dam and also going on a day trip/tour to Death Valley. He's not a gambler or into shows. Maybe Hoover Dam would interest you.
PeterPan
If he wants to drive out and see Hoover Dam, you'd have time to also do this https://www.blackcanyonadventures.com/black-canyon-raft-tour
ktgrok
My husband goes every year for a conference, and stays at the Tuscany. it's not one of the bigger strip hotels but near enough and very affordable, decent food, clean rooms, etc. As for shows, I'm no help. the only show I saw when I went was The Thunder From Down Under - which turns out to be a male "review" of well muscled, athletic, flexible men dancing and doing gymnastics in not a lot of clothing. It was impressive, to be sure, but not what you are looking for I imagine 🙂 Edited September 10, 2019 by Ktgrok

J-rap
We stayed at the Flamingo for a wedding. It was just fine... kind of an older, classic Vegas Hotel, around $150/night. It was right on the strip (I think??), so in a really good location, but maybe not as expensive as the others. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the other hotels/casinos nearby like the Bellagio, New York - New York, the Venetian, etc. We spent our days mostly wandering the streets and checking out the other hotels! Lunch at the Venetian, a roller coaster ride at New York - New York, etc. We watched a family-friendly show: I think it was The Ultimate Variety Show. Quite a few years earlier, my dh and I went to Vegas and took a day trip to Hoover Dam. That was really fun too. ETA: We thought we'd hate Las Vegas (only went because we had to, for a wedding!). We ended up having so much fun!! Edited September 10, 2019 by J-rap

We did the rafting down the gorge with lunch. They make stops where you can get out and splash and stretch. You see cormorants, etc. There are places where people will go hang for the day and just play in the waterfalls and whatever. My dh really liked the tour of the dam. If you're at all inclined to that sort of thing, it's worth doing. While he was there, I went into town and shopped. We ate at a little mexican restaurant on a side street, DELISH.
