Ann.without.an.e
The age gap, it kills me. I cannot for the life of me remember when we started Writing with Skill 1 with my other kids. Youngest is going into 5th grade? Is this too young? I sort of remember 6th grade being the magic year but I cannot recollect that for sure. PeterPan
I think look at the kid. My dd did it around 8th (though faster), so I'm pretty much anything goes, later is better, lol.
Lori D.
And many people find it is better to wait until 7th or 8th. Depends on your student.
Zoo Keeper
One boy did it in 7th, the next did in 8th. Third boy (with LD's) will be doing it in 9th.

I remembered seeing this from SWB but then couldn't find it for some reason. Perfect! 1

Soror
My son did WWS1 as an older 7th grader (would have been 8th for him if he stayed at home). He did ok with it. If I use it with my oldest daughter at all it will be bits and pieces in 8th. She is not as good of reader and whereas he thrived with challenge she does not. I'd not follow any grade rec's without looking closely at the generous sample to see how it will fit for your kid. Some it works well, some it works for in older grades, and some it is terrible fit.
