Strange scholarship from

My college junior ds was told he was being given a $1000 scholarship by his employer. Cool! He didn’t know any such thing existed. He was called into his boss’s office and told he was getting this scholarship and just to fill out this form.

The form was so strange. It asked for him to list all the other aid he was receiving. It did not ask where he went to college or what the cost of attendance was. Just what aid he gets (pretty meaningless for a picture of his situation, right?)

Then it asked to list aid any siblings got and just a line. Again, just a number with no expenses. The number was large because oldest ds has many scholarships to a school with a high sticker price. It didn’t ask how many siblings were splitting the aid in question.

Then there was a section to explain any special family financial circumstances. Ds wrote that he was paying out of state tuition and that it is a single income family of six.

So odd. All those numbers mean nothing without cost of attendance. And never did it ask questions about our income or assets or family size.

It must have been a form written by someone who had no idea how any of this works.

Nothing to lose sleep over just weird. The boss acted like ds had already been chosen and just had to fill out the application. It’s only $1000 and be might not even see it depending on how the school handles it. All very strange.

But super cool for my ds to get a scholarship from his employer that he didn’t even know existed. He would like to work for the employer long term so it is nice they like him too 🙂
