Furbaby pics! Anyone want to share theirs?

Recommended Posts

Here they all are....the bathroom pic of me sitting on the floor has 3 of the 4, and if you subtract the cat in my lap, is a daily occurrence. The cat in the sink is also a daily occurrence.

They are:

Rosie -- "black" & white (she's really dark brindle) pit bull-something-mix, 2.5 yrs old, adopted from my MIL at 8-ish months old (MIL got her from the shelter at 6 mos old, & was told she was a Boston terrier......); someone posted once something that I realized is probably what she is, but I don't remember what it is, now.....when I saw the pic and breed name, and looked up info, it was a major lightbulb moment though....I just failed to write it down. Ha! (something that likes water, but not lab, and not a common breed I'd heard of before.....) ETA: looked it up: I think English or German Short-haired Pointer!

Setimo -- brindle mutt, rescued from DH's work in Brazil and brought over with us when we came home, 7 yrs old (we've had him since he was weaned from momma, who was a blue heeler....)

Shado -- black (& white) cat in my lap on the floor, 6.5 yrs old, adopted at 2 yrs old from the local animal shelter, where she'd been residing for 6 months when we got her

Heidi, short for Gesundheit -- "Maine Coon" mix, ~18 months old, adopted as an 8 wk kitten from our local shelter, hilariously adorable but also small for a Maine Coon; DH is annoyed by it, we find it hilarious and refer to her as our Munchkin Maine Coon. Ha!!! She's hilarious, though, and keeps us laughing. I have never had a cat with so much personality before, and I've had a lot of cats/been around a lot of cats over the years.

This is our new bunny, Mocha! He’s a Harlequin/American mix we got from the humane society after a giant seizure in Texas.  So many buns that they had to spread them across the country to get them rehomed. He was born about a week after the SPCA came in.

@Arctic Mama- I had no idea rabbits could come in that color! It's like a calico rabbit!

Isn’t he beautiful?!  And super sweet.  We sat down for a bit with him and then his sister, but when he started grooming my fingers I was a goner.

Kitty, in one of a yawn sequence. :) She's a Bengal mix with a huge personality (and she eats spiders! Good kitty...)

I caught her hunting (and then consuming) a millipede in the basement the other day. She's very in tune with her inner lioness. :)

@Lori D., Oh, how I miss having a golden!!! We had a golden/lab mix, who we rehomed when we moved to Brazil, and then a pure golden that we got in Brazil, brought home with us when we came back, and then had to put to sleep due to impossible to treat allergies (the treatments were making her worse, and we reached the point where all they could do was *maybe* relieve the itching, but not do anything else for the actual reaction, and it was $$$$$ to do even that, and.......hardest decision we'd ever made).

When we ever lose one of the current dogs, we'll probably look for a golden again. DH insists we are at our absolute limit right now with 2 of each (cats & dogs).

goodness, both of ours at least kill them. Not sure if they both eat them, also (one does, for sure), but.....yes, 2 bug-hunters in the house. And lizards, geckos, voles, etc.....we keep rescuing the lizards and geckos. (one kitty is allowed outside, b/c she just wasn't containable anymore inside, no matter what we did.....she does, we think, stay in our backyard though....we've put stuff along the fence to deter her going over....we think it mostly works).

I want all the animals!

Here are my 2...

One¬†is a 30lb 6yo (or so)¬†beagle-cocker spaniel mix (we think‚ÄĒ she was found as a stray by animal control). ¬†She is a big baby and¬†*lazy*, the beagle part only comes out in her body shape apparently. ¬†

The next is our 4lb 11yo (or so) long-haired chihuahua, possibly mixed with Pom (he was also an animal shelter dog).  He is *crazy* and *wiry* and goes from a big baby to ruthless jerk in .002 seconds.    He also is scarily cat-like, so much so that when people talk about their cats, I immediately start to talk about mine...and then have to remember he’s technically a dog.

These pics are of them snuggled up for bedtime...

Here’s my crazy Aussie/Catahoula mix, Titan, mid-yawn. He loves to get up on counters and tables.

Holy cow @Selkie- I've never seen a dog completely on a counter! Man, I'd love to see my cats react to that, LOL. They'd be like "WT HECK!!!??"

Can he climb trees too? I think I've seen Catahoulas do that.

He's never climbed a tree, but I could definitely see him doing it if there was something in the tree that he wanted!

He's only allowed up on one stretch of the kitchen counter, where I never do anything food-related. He gets very huffy if the cats try to get up on his counter.

He also will jump up on my desk and plop down next to me while I'm working.

He is the most loyal dog ever, but only to me. He follows me everywhere...¬†I don't think I have gone to the bathroom alone once since we got him!ūüėā

Eclipse is the cat we call "the black hole of doom". She judges you and finds you wanting when you trip over her in the dark. She does eat spiders though, so she is a good girl.

Mayhem is just what you'd expect from a cat named Mayhem. This is her winter sleeping style on her heated cat throne bed.

This is the stray that we feed and love on. Apparently she thinks yard work is exhausting (I was trimming the bushes and she followed me from plant to plant, napping at each location).

Wow you must have a huge pet food bill.!

The food bill isn't the bad part. The vet bills are the bad part! We are lucky that she makes housecalls instead of having to take them all in!

We call her ‚ÄúMiddy‚ÄĚ for short. This is Midnight. She can be mean and quick to nip,¬†but she can also be super sweet and enjoy cuddling. She may be slightly feral from the days before we adopted her.¬†

I haven't posted since the board change, but I couldn't resist logging in to post a picture of my dog & bunnies!  Jedediah (the dog), Wibi (short for Wibrandis, the bunny on the top) and Wolfie (short for Wolfgang, bunny on the bottom).  The picture will probably be huge, but I have no idea how to fix it.Screenshot_20190727-120122.png.731b2de29412cf797931923029585941.png

This is my current foster.  Her name is Mercy and she is a lab/border collie mix. I’m holding out for an agility or freestyle or other competitive home. At 4.5 months, she knows 16 commands, and is working with my dd on basic freestyle moves. So if any of you are looking for a new sport/ competition partner, and want to help a fellow boardie NOT become a foster failure twice in a row...

Our crazy Aussie pup Jukka. Just turned 5 months. Crazy as ever.

Our Lab mix Luna is our epileptic rescue. She found us four years ago. Whoever decided to dump her doesn’t know what they threw away. She’s the sweetest dog ever.

And Lucky is an almost 10 year old Chihuahua mix that belonged to my father in law. When he passed last year, we took in Lucky. He was almost 17 pounds and not doing well. A year later he’s down 5 lbs and doing awesome.

We have a 13 year old cat too, but he hates us unless he’s getting fed, so I can never get a picture of him.

Those of you with cats - do your cats bathe and groom each other?

Our two current cats are a 7.5yr old Ragdoll and an 11 month old Burmese. Both are male. These two bathe each other ALL THE TIME. It's the sweetest thing.

We've had cats for decades, and this is the first pairing that is like this. Others have occasionally bathed the other, but with these two is a whole new level of togetherness.

Ours do. But sometimes it leads to smacking each other on the head, LOL. Your boys look like brothers- just one with shorter hair than the other. They're gorgeous!

Yup, my cats generally all groom each other; there isn’t one specific pairing of cats though.  I’ve also got two who try to groom the bunnies who escape the playpen.

What kind of dog is that that you have? She looks like a Weimar mixed with a setter almost!
