DoraBora 267 Report post Posted July 10 Do any of you have experience with GroupMe? I'm part of a group that wants to use this, but in the past, group messages have been a problem for me because my phone explodes with 200 texts (people in the group answering with thumbs-up emojis and lols). I will lose the important stuff in all of the chatter. Is there a "digest" function for GroupMe (such as just the first message in the thread coming to me and then I choose to click on it)? I started to look at their website, but couldn't find anything and I need to give the admin an answer. Thank you...
Æthelthryth the Texan 27,021 Report post Posted July 10 If there is I never found it on the iOS version of the app. If you’re in multiple groups on the main screen you’ll only see the beginning of the most recent message for that group, but all of the group messages just fall in a row. You can also silence the notifications. I definitely like it better than text, but no matter how often we mentioned it, people would sort of litter it up. Ex would be- please only reply if you will be attending and list what you will bring. We’d still have a million people also reply No and go on and on. But I think that’s going yo happen on any platform. At least your phone won’t be blowing up. It’s more manageable for sure.
ashfern 1,302 Report post Posted July 10 You can mute the conversation so you don't get the buzzing notification on your phone. I had to do that with a couple of the groups when the girls would start talking. We used it for church to keep the kids in the loop since they aren't on facebook.
DoraBora 267 Report post Posted July 10 Thank you both. I guess I was hoping there was a highlight reel of some kind, like the one you can opt into on Yahoo Groups. It's definitely a step up from regular texting.
dmmetler 20,225 Report post Posted July 10 I have notifications muted. I’m on three different feeds for cheer, and all three post often the same announcement at the same time, leading my poor phone to practically jump up and down.
