craftymama
Can anyone recommend a good art history book for high school? We have done art history from time to time through the younger years, but his request for a year of art history for his first year of high school was a bit of a surprise. We used Art in Story Teaching Art History to Elementary School Children as our back bone when he was younger.
Zoo Keeper
Some ideas that we have used... Janson's History of Art Grombrich's The Story of Art and Khan Academy has a well done Art History This is what we ended up using mostly with the books being secondary (very secondary...)
ikslo
I still have the Janson’s my parents got me in high school. Referenced it all through college, and now my son enjoys it. Love that book. ❤️
merylvdm
I used a number of things - Sister Wendy videos, plus Annotated Mona Lisa (book). And I can't remember what else now. Also look at Take Time for Art videos - I think I may have used those had they been around when my daughter did Art History.
HollyDay
We used Gardiner's Art Through the Ages. I was able to find it for a very good price at a used book sale.
kirag714
I will second Khan Academy's Art History class! It's excellent and very comprehensive - and free! My daughter enjoyed working her way through it.
