madteaparty
The search is failing me, I know this has been discussed before. I know about OWL but no local class. I’m looking for secular books you’ve used and liked for a typical health credit. Thank you!
Kassia
We used Oak Meadow for health. One of the books we read for that course was Spark, which we liked a lot.
MamaSprout
We are also using Oak Meadow... sort of. We only need 1 semester of Health, so I'm picking and choosing which weeks we are covering. We're using the Spark book in our "phys ed" credit. I'm also having Dd do a research paper on the HPV vaccine and read a Gary Taubes book. if you decide on OM let me know how soon you need it! I'll sell you my set when I'm done, lol. If you like the idea of OWL, call around to any local UCC (Congregational) or UU congregations near you. They tend to be the ones running these classes. Honestly, the books are stand alone without the course. 1
mlktwins
This is a recent thread on the subject. Maybe it will help :-).
8filltheheart
I have had my kids take Red Cross's CPR and First Aid training courses as part of health in high school. Locally, those courses are worth .25 credits each. 2
PeachyDoodle
We just need the basics to round out our PE/health credit, but I've decided on this Carson-Dellosa workbook as a cheap way to get the job done. I will be adding to it with some resources I already own regarding sexual health.
mlktwins
I will be doing 2 years of PE/Health because that is what our local schools require. The PE is easy because them swim year round. For the health part, this isn't something I need a bunch of documentation for, is it? They will also be taking the CPR/First Aid training through Red Cross.
MamaSprout
We're covering the anatomy/ systems portion of biology using our health textbook because dd's dual enrollment biology course doesn't.
