easypeasy
DD just started a new gmail account for her applications/college stuff. I poked around their calendar app and am wondering if it's pretty easy/reliable to use? We usually use our iPhone calendar, but it is always SO full with her work/performance stuff, I think she needs another online calendar to keep track of college-specific information and deadlines. We are also keeping paper calendars (my preferred/trustworthy calendar), but want a digital calendar also. Has anyone used the Google calendar on a regular basis? Reliable? Easy? Is it easy to share between two people? Any other organizational app that has been helpful to you for the college application season? (My oldest did this 2015/2016, so it's a whole new world out there!!)
City Mouse
The company I work for uses google suite exclusively. it is super easy to share calendars. We do that all the time, and multiple group calendars can be created. I only use it on the computer, but ,any of may co-workers use the phone app without any problems.
MamaSprout
It works really well because you can create specific calendars (Mom, Dad, Chemistry, Dance or whatever) and toggle them on and off as you need to see things. You can set it up with some LMS systems (canvas, google classroom, etc) so that your deadlines feed directly into your calendar. I have "menu" and "chore" calendars that I can toggle on to see and then off so it isn't so busy. 1
JumpedIntoTheDeepEndFirst
Google is a commonly used calendar app, even by workplaces and schools. If I were already proficient at iCal I think I'd just create a "calendar" category for applications and set alarms or reminders. I also really like Fantastical for Apple users, all devices can sync. But it's not cheap.
easypeasy
She and I have always had trouble syncing our iPhone calendars for some odd reason. I can share calendars with everyone else in the family, but ours don't reliably communicate! We've started playing around with the google calendar and I think it's going to be perfect. Then she can keep her iCalendar with her work/performance stuff and have a separate place to look for college stuff. Phew!
catz
We LOVE google calendar. We can see/edit on any device. We have apple and android/PC devices and laptops. We use like probably 8 different calendars to track everything. My kids just toggle what is relevant to them. Some events have pop up and/or e-mail reminders. I fully anticipate my son will be using it next year at college too. Edited May 29, 2019 by FuzzyCatz
