Kidlit
What will you do to celebrate? I am planning to put up a “poet tree” later this week. I’ll also take out my poem-a-day book and share a poem at lunch each day we’re home. I’ll aim for a poetry tea time each week. Last, I’m going to have each of my children pick a poem to memorize this month. Here are some links: National Poetry Month at Poets.org Poetry Tea Time Index post to poetry books I’ve reviewed over the years on my blog (shameless plug)
Emba
CThere is a blog by Robert Brewer called Poetic Asides at the Writers Digest site that has daily poetry prompts for the month of April. I think I’m going to have DD read a poem every day and write one using the prompt. She enjoys poetry so I think she’ll like it. Emba
We haven’t done a poetry tea time in awhile so I think I’ll try to work one of those in each week too.

regentrude
No more kids at home, but I am celebrating National Poetry Month big time this year. (For full disclosure, I'm a poet myself and just had the launch of my new book on March 30 to kick off NaPoMo.) I will: write a poem a day in April organize a reading for a poet whom I invited do a reading & book signing event for my own book travel to a book launch of another poet attend an evening of performance poetry as audience member read & listen at open mic participate in a poetry evening put on by the local arts council perform at No Shame theatre attend a poetry writing workshop Would have liked to travel to a small press poetry festival, but too far/ too little time. It's gonna be a busy month.
Farrar
Okay, I'm resolving to actually read the Poem a Day poems all month, not just when the title catches my eye. https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem-day

That sounds like fun!

I’ve seen several creative variations on this (using real branches, etc.), but I just take some construction paper and make a tree trunk and put it up on the wall. I add branches, and then we write the names of the poems we read all month on leaves and attach them to the branches on the wall. I’m not very artistic so it’s not exactly beautiful, but the kids like to see the accumulation of leaves.
