Gil
Has anyone come up with their own intra-text tests for any of the AoPS textbooks that they're willing to share or sell? Is it possible to test through AoPS by maybe doing the star questions in each chapter until you find yourself having to slow down and read the chapter for insight into how to attack the problem? And if not, can anyone suggest a more appropriate way to accelerate to a good "starting point" within a text for a student who is already familiar with many of the topics? Jackie
You might use Alcumus for this. If getting the questions correct, it usually only takes 3-4 questions to move on to the next section. They could simply work through until they hit something they don’t know, and then switch to the book for that section.
chocolate-chip chooky
When we started with AoPS, I just had my daughter do the challenge problems for each chapter. If she could do them, I was happy to let her just move on. If they gave her pause, we'd go back and work through the chapter. After a while, we added in Alcumus too, for review. mathnerd
so far, I use some review problems, some challenge problems and some alcumus problems as part of a test after completing 3-4 chapters in each book. Thanks to this thread, I did find regentrude's old post with her tests. But, unfortunately, the links seem to have been lost during the site migration ... if anyone preserved her old pdf files, I would be grateful because I can get a good idea on how to write tests by myself. mathnerd
update: there are 6 links to the pdf files in regentrude's post. But, there are only 3 pdf files. The top three links are not real links (scripting bug in the forum webpage?). But, right-click on the last three links one after the other and use the "save linked file as .."-functionality or its equivalent in your browser and rename the file that you are saving as a pdf (e.g. AOPSIntro1-6.pdf) and you can access regentrude's tests. Thanks a lot for your generosity, regentrude! Edited March 31, 2019 by mathnerd

Gil
Bumping this in the hope that someone has quizzes or tests for some of the AoPS books that they'll be willing to sell/share.
