Chris in VA 17,797
Can you help me find a devotional for my soon-to-be 19yo? I'd like to put one in her Easter Basket. Yeah, I'm sending Easter vegan chocolate and snacks and I would love something to tuck in. I don't want Sarah Young's Jesus Calling or any in her series. My Utmost for His Highest is too deep. (I love it, though) One page preferred. Light on the guilt, heavy on the JC loves you. No purity culture stuff. Pretty. Something she actually might make time for. Any ideas? Even if she doesn't use it, I want her to have one. She already has JCalling and it isn't a favorite (and I'm not all that fond of the author, myself).
mom@shiloh 1,611
We really enjoyed Paul Tripp's New Morning Mercies. One page, not too deep, but no fluff either and infused with a theme of grace. I'm using Tim Keller's book on the Psalms right now. Those are good too, but really short.

Jaybee 2,969
I also enjoyed New Morning Mercies. Two other favorites are Henry and Richard Blackaby's Experiencing God Day-By-Day, and the classic, Streams in the Desert. I don't know that they are pretty, but they have all been very helpful to me at various times in my life. I gave copies of Streams in the Desert to our older children one Christmas, because it had ministered to me so much that difficult year.

mims 107
If looking for a shorter, one month one, check out a new one by Tara Barndt on Amazon working through Philippians. Short but not fluffy.
2,138
I haven’t actually read this one (so I can’t 100% vouch for it), but I purchased Eugene Peterson’s Every Step an Arrival for dmil’s birthday. I had been reading Peterson’s A Long Obedience in the Same Direction, which I LOVE, and thought I couldn’t go wrong with something by him. He also has a praying-through-the-Psalms book. I also like Keller’s psalms book.
