Looking for a funny movie to show at an upper elementary BD party

Recommended Posts

This will be for my dd's 10th.  She wants to do a movie party and I'm looking for super funny movies that would be appropriate down to age 7 or so.

We're ok with a little slapstick violence.

I was looking at Ella Enchanted, but would also enjoy suggestions that don't have a strong romance storyline.

What about Cool Runnings?  It's a bit of an oldie, but I seem to recall that it was pretty funny, pretty clean and a good story too.

Home Alone?

I like the Night at the Museum movies.

My kids like animated and there's plenty to choose from if yours do too.

Goonies is fun, but I don't know if you would consider that appropriate or not.  There's some mild language and violence in it.  My 10 yr old is totally freaked out by it, but my 8yr old loves it.

Mrs Doubtfire?

Humorous kid-friendly movies
- The Muppets (2011)
- Elf (2003)
- Looney Tunes cartoon collection -- not a movie, but can run a number of classic Bugs Bunny, Roadrunner, etc. cartoons

Adventure/Action and some humor
- Despicable Me (2010)
- The Lego Movie (2014)
- Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (2009)
- Tangled (2010)
- Moana (2016)
- Nim's Island (2008) -- girl protagonist, about 10yo

Adventure/Action
- Kitt Kittredge (2008) -- girl protagonist, about 10yo
- Spy Kids (2001) -- sister and brother protagonist; in this first story, the sister is about 10yo

My kids were just watching Daddy Day Care the other day and apparently found it to be hilarious.

I think The Cat in the Hat with Mike Meyers is really funny, but there are a couple of things that could be questionable, although I found the implied stuff was over my kids’ heads.

Paddington is fun, though the villain wants to stuff Paddington, which can be kind of creepy for younger children. Paddington 2 is really fun, as well. I loved these more than I expected to.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul was more fun that I expected, though there is a bit of gross humor, and the main character is a boy.

I had never heard of Nim's Island.  It looks, so, so good!  Cant' wait for dd to come home and watch the trailer!

I really liked Lego Batman and Lego Ninjago. I was actually surprised how much I liked Batman when we went for my ds birthday. Then Ninjago came out on my birthday so we went to see it because I liked Batman so much. I usually do not go for kids movies much at all but those movies really crack me up.
