My crock pot just died with $12 worth of beef in it!

I use my crock pot multiple times per week so I guess I should have seen this on the horizon after 12 years. I came into the kitchen to switch it from high to low and its dead. I tried plugging it in an outlet on the other wall and that didn't work either.

I moved the food to slow cook in the instant pot but I'm not thrilled about that because I've read that the flavor isn't the same slow cooked in stainless steel. And I don't have the glass lid so I can't peek at it without losing precious heat and steam.

So long trusty crock pot, you fed us well for years.

Whatever you do, don’t toss the crock itself.  They are pretty useful.

I was just coming back here to ask this! 😂 I washed the crock and its been in my way on the counter all day. I hate to throw it in a landfill but I don't know what to do with it!

Btw, we are eating the dinner now. Its fine but not the best I've ever made. 😊

Does it have a cover inside?  If not, you can use a cast iron griddle as a cover.

It’s great for baking things slowly in the oven.  Like pot roast or beans.

If it has a cover that is glass, it would also work well in a Sun Oven.
