Most of the day is proctoring the state math competition (both DS are entered). But the competition will be bookended by 2-hour bus rides on a Very Cold Bus. Our little school's bus doesn't have functional heat and it's in the 20s out. Many blankets are going with us.

4:30 am and great excitement as Juliet was desperate to get out of her crate to go outside to do her business.   Much thumping and whining to wake me up. Of course I let her out quickly because btdt- except that I have never been locked in a crate and of course I don’t do my business outside.

Now I hope that my heart will stop pounding from adrenaline so that I can get back to sleep.

Cat routine (clean boxes, visit with older cat, feed feral colony down the road) Turn chickens out.  Check everyone's water, it's cold here.

Laundry started.

Straighten house. Vac everything.

Make beef/veg soup for anyone showing up for lunch.

Need to make three appointments, including mamogram that's about two years overdue.

Get dinner ready for everyone that shows up tonight, hopefully four kids, three spouses, five grandkids.  Two have to work.

Kids are home from school (snow day) - I don't think they woke up yet.  Lucky them.  Here's hoping they get their work done so they can sleep at a decent hour tonight.

I did not sleep well at all.  I went to bed late and then didn't feel like sleeping.  I probably fell asleep around 5:30 and then I was supposed to be up at 7.  I snoozed until 9.

I finally sent out some reports - they were supposed to be sent last week.  I still have another set that was due early last week, and then many many that are due today.  Hope I get on a good roll.

The kids' activities are all canceled today - that helps.

To do:

  • Lots of work.
  • Bills.
  • Laundry.
  • Clean the critter cage.
  • Take out the garbage so I don't have to do it in the morning.
  • Make the kids finish their homework / study.
  • Filing.
  • Yoga etc.
  • Reading.
  • Whatever else gets done.

When I am sick nothing around the house gets done by anyone. Grr.

But I am on the mend.

Human care done

pet care done and Libby is having a better day.

Medical care done

dishwasher is running with yesterday and today’s dishes.

got a camp planning meeting scheduled for February. Scheduling meetings is such a headache.

reached out to my camp IT guy.

Ds is less than cooperative and focused today. But he did understand the math.

Had to take Dd's artwork to her at lunchtime.

Ds' medication is lost, so now we have to go by the pharmacy to get a replacement. Thankfully, this did not happen yesterday when his doctor's office was closed!

Next up:
library (b/c  we are not getting any work done so might as well get an errand done),
pharmacy
science center (an hour of peace and quiet by myself, or time to visit with other homeschool moms with middle schoolers)

We had about six hours of freezing rain and now it has changed over to heavy snow.

I did 2.5 hours of work outside. Cleaned stalls & paddocks, repaired fence, filled water tank, dealt with the insulated water buckets that had a 6" thick layer of ice in them.

After lunch, I have to get some tax stuff together for our accountant.
