Maggie2354
I have a 9th grade daughter who is a naturally good speller. We have been using dictation since the 3rd grade and are currently still doing it. She is in an online English class this year. I am trying to decide if I have her doing too much work on top of the class. Just wondering if there is any reason why I would still want to do dictation with her through her high school years? Thanks for any advice that you can give! 🙂 Edited January 20, 2019 by Maggie2354
HomeAgain
I wouldn't. In fact, if I did, I'd be inclined to use dictation to teach shorthand so that my kid could take notes faster. I would have no problem dropping it entirely at the high school level, though.
Lori D.
It sounds like you would be quite safe to drop Dictation at this point. 😉 Also safe to drop Spelling and formal Grammar instruction. Perhaps use that time instead to work on study skills, such as occasional practice of note-taking from a lecture, and then studying from those notes and taking a quiz...

Kareni
The only dictation that I recall doing in high school was in a foreign language class. Regards, Kareni
