There always seem to be some snowmen or Santas around, but today I saw some surprises: a huge Christmas dragon (???) and a Santa in an outhouse. What Christmas inflatables have surprised you? It drops its drawers every 20-30 seconds, and it says “‘Merry Christmas” across the, um, backside of the underpants. I think it’s my kids’ absolute favorite part of the holiday season. We’ve been on “Santa Butt Watch” since the day after Thanksgiving. I saw it in their yard yesterday, not yet inflated though. And, being Amazon, it also had the outhouse Santa. It even has a whole bunch of nativities. Honestly, I'm appalled at the cost of these things. One family has chosen to feature a lot of Snoopy this year. I'm not sure why Snoopy flying a plane (moving propeller too!) is Christmasy, but hey. Their Christmas decor used to be an old sleigh and large evergreen wreaths, but they've replaced those with inflatables. They're big and gangly and they wobble and fall down in the wind. I've never really understood the draw. Give me old fashioned Christmas lights and a wooden Santa on a sleigh. Lights are time consuming to hang; large, wooden decorations are heavy and hard to store. Inflatable Santa? (And I do find it downright disturbing to see them sad and flattened, strewn about on people's yards or roofs. I didn't put up individual lights this year, though, because I really just don't have the time or energy. So I've been collecting light-up animals. Like the inflatables, they require really minimal set-up, make the yard look cheerful quickly and can be stored quickly and easily at the end of the season. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
