The nicest thing someone did for me...

my parents watched my kids for a few days so dh and I could get away after 4 stressful months of renovating a house, putting it on the market, selling it, and moving.  By the end of all that dh and I were so disconnected from each other that we really needed it. The best part, my dad was the one who suggested we go away.

4. The nicest thing someone did for me -

When we found out our new granddaughter would have Down Syndrome I was home alone a few hours later (dh and ds both had to go to work that evening). Two good friends drove up 45 miles, took me out to dinner, and hung around after for some emotional support.

4. My friend let us stay in her house for ten days this summer while they were traveling in Asia.  It’s always complicated to find places to stay while we’re in the US, and I love her house so much.  The location is perfect for us and the view is wonderful.  The only sad part was that we only saw them once for a few hours after they came back. but we needed those days to be on our own in the middle of a very, very, very long move.

Nicest thing: last week, when I thought I couldn’t make it through another moment with my currently in behavioral/mental health crisis child, my friend offered to take him for a few hours, then sent him home with a big craft project that she had purchased for him. He’s still enjoying working on it in his calm moments.

The nicest thing someone did for me...

I had two specialist appointments in the same building in The Big City -- over an hour away.

My appointment with my rheumatologist was at 10; my appointment with my new (2nd appointment) neurologist was at 4:30.  When I finished with the rheumatologist, the receptionist asked the neurologist if he could see me right away instead of in the late afternoon.  And he did!
