vmsurbat1
I bought my grown daughter this It's Different Every Day Desk Calendar last year and it has been a big hit all year for her---and her fellow workers. News of its fun quirkiness spread throughout her company and she has people from other departments dropping by just to see what silliness there is that day. Not for the serious-minded but light-of-heart.

Bluegoat
I found these great books of little engineering projects while i was on a trip this summer, here is the website - you can order the books. I bought one and they are really fun. Also, for dd13 I am giving her this choir binder with her name engraved. It is kind of a special gift for a budding musician - there are also versions for those who play instruments. they are really nice because they are easy to hold open. I ordered hers at musicfolder.com, I suspect there are also American companies that do the same thing.
