Seeing him say goodbye to his best bud since third grade.  Yikes ladies.  We are a mess.  I don't even want to start cleaning his room.  I want the stink and socks and navy bag to stay right where they are.  i don't want to pack away all his rock band t shirts.  At least for a few days.  It is to quiet this morning.

Don’t pack them away, give yourself some time to get used to a new normal.

It really is amazing how much you miss them when they leave. My youngest left in June of this year but he only moved down the road. He even works near where I normally shop so I can pretty much see him whenever I want and it still hurts to see his empty room. It still is a shock when I'm thinking of dinner and realizing yet again I don't have to take him into account. It is getting better though. At least I'm not texting him every day about how much I miss him.

Hope it gets better for you too, Mom.

I remember when my oldest ds left for college and it was the empty spot at the kitchen table for meals that really got to me.  When my twin sons left for colleges, it was the empty rooms.  It took me a long time to even go near their rooms because it hurt so much.  They've been gone a long time now and I kind of like having the house to ourselves (our teen dd is still home)!
