Julie Smith
My son is into Dungeon and Dragons, and birthday is coming up. He likes audio books. Any chance there are some audiobooks for D&D?
prairiewindmomma
There are, but most would be appropriate for a teen audience, at minimum. The DragonLance series would be a classic place to start if he is new to the genre. The Legend of Drizzt short stories and most stuff by RA Salvatore are also popular choices. My teen is just starting into these more mature books, so I don't have many recommendations beyond that. We started him off on the Shannara series and worked our way in. For a younger kid (tween), I'd suggest something like The Ranger's Apprentice series instead. My 12 yo really enjoys the audio (& I've been a good sport and listened to the first seven books with him and approve of the series).

JenneinCA
My husband suggested this book. It is a reprint of one he read a very long time ago. https://www.amazon.com/Dragons-Autumn-Twilight-Dragonlance-Chronicles/dp/0786915749/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1534475030&sr=8-2&keywords=dragonlance+trilogy+weis+Hickman
Terabith
My D&D obsessed kid asks, "What aspect of D&D most appeals to him, and what other books has he enjoyed?"

My son (12 yo) and I both read the first book in the Dragonlance series and enjoyed it. My son went on to read the rest of the series. Is your son playing dnd regularly with a group? If so he may enjoy one of the supplemental books Mordenkaines Tome of Foes http://dnd.wizards.com/products/tabletop-games/rpg-products/mordenkainens-tome-foes or Xanathars Guide to Everything http://dnd.wizards.com/products/tabletop-games/rpg-products/xanathars-guide-everything
Joules
If he likes humor and satire, I loved NPCs by Drew Hayes and the Rincewind books by Terry Pratchett, the first being The Colour of Magic. The former directly reference the game, the latter is always an adventure gone wrong, but obliquely refers to the rolling of dice as fate. Jenny in Florida
Thinking in terms of things that are not D&D branded but that might appeal to a dude that age who has an interest: My son agrees about Ranger's Apprentice and also suggests The Heir Chronicles ( https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/warrior-heir-cinda-williams-chima/1100328238?ean=9780786839179#/ ). The second series is more urban fantasy than sword and sorcery. Other high fantasy series my guy loved when he was younger: The Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander Edited August 18, 2018 by Jenny in Florida
