Chris in VA
Suggestion to give dd for how to word her objections, and possible solutions for... Her sweet roommate (she really likes her though they haven't met) wants to bring a TV for their dorm room. Dd is against that. I suggested she tell her roomie that she doesn't think it's a good idea, and would prefer no TV, but if she must, please bring headphones . I think that's reasonable. Any other ideas? Can you include exact wording of how you'd phrase the objection?
regentrude
"I don't really like the idea of a TV in the room because (insert reason you have not told us). If you do bring one, can you please bring headphones?" It depends a little on why she is against it. Not enough space? Or worried about noise/distraction? For the latter, a computer is as bad, and the room mate will definitely have one of those. Edited August 9, 2018 by regentrude
acresoft
I've enjoyed learning to know you, and it all sounds good except the TV concerns me for (state reasons). If you really think this is something you want, if you bring headphones that is much appreciated. Thanks.
Chris in VA
Those work! Thanks! Sometimes just hearing someone else say it helps me a lot.
MarkT
suggest headphones - IMHOTV is more distracting than a computer unless they are streaming shows which effectively makes it a TV
QueenCat
I would suggest that she asks the roommate to use headphones when the tv or computer is distracting her. And she should bring a set for when she's watching audio on her computer. I wouldn't ask her not to bring one.
katilac
Did she talk to her?
Chris in VA
She brought the TV--it's really big, but I don'tknow where they will hang it (or set it). I think, at this point, they will just negotiate and probably the dear roommate won't watch very much--she was incredibly nice today at drop off. ❤️
katilac
It's very common to not allow mounting TVs in a dorm, so make sure they check on that.

Yeah, they put it on dd's dresser for now. I don't think they will be watching as much as the roommate thinks! lol
